  • Publication number: 20230327445
Abstract: A converter includes an AC side to be connected to an AC network at a connecting point, a grid following controller configured to control a steady state current at the connecting point, and a grid forming controller configured to actively control frequency and voltage at the connecting point. The grid following controller and the grid forming controller share an underlying current controller. A method for operating the converter is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20110168846
Abstract: A parachute container system including: a reserve compartment; a main compartment; a reserve parachute pathway configured to enable a mechanical connection between a reserve parachute canopy and a reserve parachute connection point external to the parachute container system when a reserve parachute canopy is positioned in the reserve compartment; and a main parachute pathway configured to enable a mechanical connection between a main parachute canopy and a main parachute connection point external to the parachute container system when a main parachute canopy is positioned in the main compartment. When the parachute container system is positioned on a parachutist at least a portion of the reserve compartment is disposed between the main compartment and the parachutist.

  • Publication number: 20090026319
Abstract: An aerial delivery system including a ram-air parachute, one or more recovery parachutes, a mantle removably attached to a cargo, and a controller operably connected to the mantle, the ram-air parachute, and the one or more recovery parachutes. The controller may be configured to receive location information associated with a target, receive information related to an ambient condition, determine a recovery parachute opening point based on the target information and the ambient condition, and cause a navigation of the aerial delivery system to the determined recovery parachute opening point.

  • Patent number: 7059570
Abstract: A guided aerial delivery device which can be used to safely and accurately deliver a payload and supplies from an aircraft in flight to a specific target location in a reduced time. The aerial delivery device uses an overloaded ram-air drogue parachute controlled by a guidance system to steer the payload towards the intended target. When a selected altitude is reached, a recovery parachute is activated and the payload descends the remaining distance under the recovery parachute.

  • Patent number: 6622968
Abstract: A guided aerial delivery device which safely and precisely delivers a standard vehicle, personnel and/or cargo, from a high-flying aircraft, to a precise target or location. In the preferred embodiment, the aerial delivery device generally comprises a cage-like module, which encloses and secures a standard, motorized vehicle, a large “ram-air” type gliding parachute, a“drogue” parachute and a “fly-by-wire” control system. The vehicle, typically an ATV, needs no modification. The delivery device employs an onboard human pilot to navigate the module. Upon exiting the aircraft, a drogue parachute stabilizes the freefall of the vehicle and releases the large “ram-air” parachute. The use of a skilled pilot allows the aerial delivery device to be guided to a designated landing site. Upon landing, the vehicle is easily detached from its parachute member and driven away.

  • Patent number: 5899415
Abstract: A personnel guided aerial delivery device is disclosed which can be used to safely and precisely deliver personnel, cargo, or a combination of both from an aircraft in flight, to a precise target or location. In the preferred embodiment, the aerial delivery device generally consists of a large "ram-air" type gliding parachute, a "drogue" parachute, an encapsulated crew module, a "fly-by-wire" control system, and a landing impact attenuation system. The aerial delivery device can employ an onboard human pilot to navigate the module. The use of a skilled pilot allows the aerial delivery device to be guided to a designated landing site.
