Abstract: By constructing an apertured foil with at least one zone having a thickness greater than the thickness of the remaining foil member and positioning the zone of increased thickness in the central area of the apertured foil, an apertured foil construction for a dry shaver is attained which provides greater control over the cutting and shaving of longer hair fibers simultaneously with the cutting/shaving of shorter hair fibers. In the preferred embodiments, either one or two increased thickness zones are employed to attain the optimum benefits of the present invention. In addition, the present invention is constructed to prevent the skin from entering the apertures, thereby preventing skin irritation.

Abstract: A unique, highly effective, electric dry shaver incorporating rotary cutting blades for use by women to effectively, conveniently, and comfortably shave both legs and underarms is achieved by incorporating a blade guard removably mountable to the electric shaver for partially blocking the rotary cutting blades while also smoothing and/or stretching the soft underarm skin. By employing the rotary cutting blade guard of the present invention, the soft, pliable skin typically found in underarms is comfortably smoothed, spread, and/or stretched to prevent any cutting or pinching of the skin by the blades. As a result, a close, comfortable shave is attained, with all of the hair being completed cut, regardless of the contours of the skin surface or the soft, pliable nature of the skin. Furthermore, when the legs are to be shaven, the blade guard is removed thereby fully exposing the side walls of the slotted outer cutter so it can be used in its entirety.

Abstract: A power driven hair trimmer appliance is fitted with a demountable comb attachment having a supporting segment of similar but larger configuration than the appliance. A plurality of discrete pressure pads are provided for fitting the comb to the appliance so that the comb may be adjusted to any position between predetermined maximum and minimum positions of trim length. At any operating position of the comb, trimmed hair will fall away from the appliance thereby eliminating the need to periodically interrupt trimming operations for cleaning the appliance.

Abstract: A protective, demountable head guard is provided for an electric dry shaver which includes a segment adapted for inhibiting movement of a shaver actuating switch and thus avoiding potential inadvertant operation of the shave. The head guard is also sized so as to be captivated by the shaver and upon the application of a manual actuating force to an electric switch slide on the shaver, the head guard is automatically released from the captivated position.

Abstract: A light responsive, battery operated fragrance device is described. The device establishes an air stream over a fragrant material when an artificial light source such as a room lamp is energized. It includes a swivel light gathering body and a photo transistor mounted thereto which can be aimed at the artificial light source and provides directional discrimination and screening of other light sources. The unactuated device provides a limited flow of convection air current which maintains a relatively low level of fragrance dispersion in a room therefor. Upon actuation forced air flowing through the device causes a rapid increase in the level of fragrance dispersion in the room.

Abstract: An improved buoyant alarm device which provides an indication of a disturbance to a quiescent level of a body of water. The device includes a cover assembly and a buoyant body. The cover assembly includes a cover member and a support member. The support member provides a subassembly support for electrical components which are mounted thereto and for forming, with the cover member, an enclosed water-tight chamber for housing the electrical components.

Abstract: Auxiliary trimmer unit for an electric dry shaver comprising a stationary and a movable cutter wherein the movable cutter is provided with spaced dual cutting surfaces. A guard unit is provided for the trimmer unit and means are provided to permit shifting of the guard alternately from a position where a first of the cutting surfaces of the trimmer is covered and a second position where the first cutting surface is exposed.

Abstract: A mounting arrangement for securing a flexible foil outer cutter to an electric dry shaver housing in operative relationship relative to a driven inner cutter. The outer cutter foil is arranged within a frame hinged to the upper portion of the shaver casing. The spaced opposite ends of the foil are provided with portions having integral spring detent tabs for detachably locking engagement in slots provided in the frame for securing the foil thereto.

Abstract: An electric power switch arrangement for a hand-held, portable electrical appliance is disclosed which provides improved positive, mechanical switch detenting. A mount for the switch comprises a receptacle having integrally formed fingers for gripping and captivating the switch.

Abstract: A portable electrical appliance such as an electric dry shaver wherein all the operative elements are mounted on a shroud support assembly for removal as an operative unit from the shaver casing. The support means further include a structural arrangement for permitting the vibratory motor of the appliance to be suspended clear of the casing sidewalls to allow for slight pivotal movement thereof during operation to absorb and reduce vibrations in operation of the appliance.

Abstract: An electric dry shaver having skin engaging bar assemblies arranged at opposite sides of the cutter head assembly for tensioning or flattening the skin in advance of the cutter head. Means are provided for mounting the bar assemblies for movement transverse of the longitudinal axis of the cutter head to selected positions relative to the hair reception slots with control and actuator means spaced from the cutter head and operable from without the casing for effecting simultaneous movement of the bar assemblies.

Abstract: An electric dry shaver wherein the cutter head assembly is held securely within a cutter head receptacle portion thereof by means which includes latch members on the cutter head in latching engagement with a detent spring on the bottom wall of the receptacle. Additional means are provided for pivoting the receptacle away from the casing for presenting the detent spring in position to release the cutter head or clean the adjacent casing area.
