  • Patent number: 4826209
Abstract: A safety vehicle (10) for passengers includes a horizontally disposed chassis (16) having a front (16a) and rear (16b) portion. The vehicle body (14) is disposed on the chassis (16) and includes a passenger section (20) disposed intermediate the front and rear portions of the chassis (16). The chassis (16) includes three lever arms (44, 46, 48) pivotally interconnected. The first lever arm (44) is disposed adjacent the front portion of the chassis (16). A second lever arm (48) is disposed adjacent the passenger section (20). The third lever arm (46) is pivotally interconnected to the first and second lever arms, such that the first end of the third lever arm is pivotally connected adjacent to the second end of the first lever arm (44) at a first pivot point (60). The second end of the third lever arm (46) is pivotally connected adjacent to the first end of the second lever arm (48) at a second pivot point (62).

  • Patent number: 4673355
Abstract: This invention relates to the formation of a new solid material composed of calcium phosphates and to the reaction method for producing this material. The solid calcium phosphate material is created by chemically reacting calcium ion sources with phosphate ion sources in a molten state and cooling the reaction mixture to room temperature producing the solid material. Depending upon the ratio of components and the parameters of the heating reaction, the resulting material may be a smooth, non-porous material with exceptional hardness, or it may be a porous material. Both types of material can be shaped into desired configurations, such as artificial teeth.

  • Patent number: 4492577
Abstract: A device is disclosed which has a solid interior and at least one surface which is porous. The porous surface has several desired characteristics, including: (1) the majority of pores have dimensions within a size range that encourages the migration of cells into said pores, such as about 50 to about 500 micron diameters, and (2) the pores have a controlled depth, such as about 300 microns or less. Such devices may be created by several methods, such as injecting casting material into a mold which is fitted with a shell of porous material having the desired shape and characteristics. Such devices are useful as artificial teeth and orthopedic appliances.

  • Patent number: 4046858
Abstract: A new synthesis is disclosed which produces synthetic crystalline hydroxyapatite. The process comprises reacting anhydrous trisodium phosphate wih calcium chloride in a formamide/water solution. Good yields of hydroxyapatite are obtained quickly, simply, and at low temperatures.
