  • Patent number: 7476253
Abstract: A modular humeral implant and associated kit and method for implantation into a humerus that includes a natural humeral shaft and a natural humeral head. The modular implant includes a humeral stem for implantation into the natural humeral shaft, and an adapter. The adapter includes an anchoring projection and is operable for coupling to the humeral stem. The anchoring projection is adapted for insertion into an underside of the natural humeral head.

  • Patent number: 6814741
Abstract: A suture buttress comprises a hollow tube having an outer surface and opposed ends. The suture buttress may further include an external securing element, such as a securing tab suitable to retain the suture buttress within a bone tunnel. The suture buttress may also include a resilient flange disposed on one end of the suture buttress.

  • Patent number: 6620166
Abstract: A suture buttress system has a suture retriever and a suture buttress. The suture retriever includes a handle portion with an elongate member extending therefrom and having an outer surface and a distal end that includes a suture retaining element. The suture buttress comprises a resilient hollow tube having an outer surface and opposed ends. The suture buttress is removably and replaceably disposed on the elongate member. The suture buttress may further include an external fastening element suitable to retain the suture buttress within a bone tunnel. A suture buttress deployment tool may also be provided.

  • Patent number: 6156056
Abstract: A suture buttress comprises a hollow tube having an outer wall, a central channel, a center line extending through the channel, leading end for insertion into a bone tunnel and a trailing end. The hollow tube is bendable into a curved tube having an outer radius and an outer radial surface, the outer radial surface defining a plurality of slits formed in the outer wall. The suture buttress further includes at least one projecting member integral with and extending outward from the outer wall. The at least one projecting member is sufficiently strong to form a friction fit within a bone tunnel. A method for using the suture buttress to attach soft tissue to bone by inserting the suture buttress into a tunnel formed in bone, passing a suture through the tunnel and suture buttress and using the suture to attach soft tissue to the bone.

  • Patent number: 5507817
Abstract: The invention is directed to a modular humeral prosthesis for implantation into a humerus of a patient. The prosthesis includes a proximal humeral component having a platform disposed on an upper end. A tapered projection is disposed on the platform. A cup-shaped fracture cap having a tapered opening with generally the same shape as the tapered projection is removably disposable on the tapered projection. The fracture cap is shaped so as to allow for space between the cap and the glenoid of a patient into whom the prosthesis is to be implanted and thereby allow the bones of the patient's humeral head to be reconstructed by reassembling and securing the bone fragments about the fracture cap. The prosthesis further includes a humeral head having a tapered opening which may be disposed on the proximal humeral component. The humeral head is interchangeable with the fracture cap.
