  • Patent number: 4550951
Abstract: A latch housing attachable to a side wall of a vehicle frame holds a vertically movable cradle having a spring mounted sensing roller over which a loop or bight of a shoulder harness belt passes. The cradle is also spring mounted in the latch housing. The bottom portions of the facing walls of the cradle cavity in the housing converge to define a downwardly diminishing chamber into which a latch wedge fixed to the bottom of the cradle is movable by belt motion against the cradle spring force. The harness belt extends from each each end of the bight or loop to the take-up reel fixed to the vehicle and to the conventional lap belt near the lap belt buckle. The harness belt passes between the wedge faces and the adjacent faces of the Latch housing lower slanting walls so that swift momentum forces drive the wedge surfaces into binding contact with the belt runs but slower changes in belt momentum are absorbed by the roller mount springs, which are preferably adjustable.

  • Patent number: 4537350
Abstract: A Drinking Fountain attachment for a water faucet is automatically turned on when water is supplied at low pressure and low water flow rates. The assembly includes a hollow body portion between an inlet and an outlet, and the fountain outlet is connected to a central portion of the hollow body. A partition with a central opening extends across the hollow body between the outlet and the point of connection to the fountain. Valve arrangements are provided for normally closing the central passage and for opening it when the water pressure and rate of flow exceed predetermined levels. A flexible, resilient membrane or washer forms a normally open valve but is deflected to close off the connection to the fountain at the higher pressure and flow level at which the valve arrangements operate.

  • Patent number: 4324025
Abstract: A spring steel wire is bent to have an open head from which criss-crossing limbs extend to form separated limbs each with two bearing points for gripping an object to be clamped. Preferably each limb is a tilted "L" which is normally crossed twice over the other limb. The head defines a hand or finger grip such that when the extremes of the separated limbs are placed in contact with a work to be clamped, the head affords a grip by which the entire clamp may be twisted with respect to the work and then pushed further onto the work such that the grip of the clamp on the work is increased because of the forces resulting from the re-orientation of the cross-over limbs.
