  • Patent number: 4152278
Abstract: Wax esters are prepared entirely from acids obtained from hydrogenated vegetable oils. Fatty alcohols, prepared by hydrogenolysis of the fatty acids, are esterified with the fatty acids to yield the wax esters. These esters have properties similar to those of sperm whale oil and are useful as lubricant compositions. The sulfurized wax esters are useful as extreme pressure lubricant additives.
