Abstract: Various aspects of a system and method for user authentication are disclosed herein. An audio input is received from one of a plurality of computing devices associated with a user. The user identification data associated with the user based on said received audio input is determined. An association of the user with one or more other users in a social network is determined based on comparison of the determined user identification data with pre-stored user identification data. The user is authenticated to participate in an event in association with the one or more other users based on the comparison.

Abstract: Various aspects of a device and a method for processing video content may comprise one or more processors. The one or more processors may determine, in run-time, a first set of pixel sensors of one or more image sensors that capture a first video content when the device is in a first orientation relative to a reference orientation. The one or more processors may determine a change in orientation of the device from the first orientation to a second orientation relative to the reference orientation. The second orientation is different from the first orientation. The one or more processors may determine, in run-time, a second set of pixel sensors of the one or more image sensors that capture a second video content when the device is in the second orientation. An orientation of the captured second video content is same as an orientation of the captured first video content.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for temporal tagging of videos in response to identification of locations on the video where persons in a contact list of a user are identified in response to facial recognition. The temporal tags can be retained within the video, or contained separately in a metadata file having fields to indicate time locations in the video and identified persons seen at those locations. Use of the temporal tags allows for automatic distribution of content relevant to the recipient, based on their presence in the video, or of persons in the video of which they are interested.

Abstract: An electronic device that provides entertainment recommendations to a device user includes a metadata manager that automatically searches social networking websites on the Internet to obtain metadata pertaining to entertainment preferences of the device user of the electronic device. A recommendation manager may then analyze the various metadata in the metadata database to automatically provide targeted entertainment recommendations to the device user through the electronic device.

In an embodiment, the method comprises receiving an indication that the computing device is in a non-user-interactable state and powering down non-essential device components such that the computing device is configured to enter a low power state. In another embodiment, the method comprises selecting a duration for a battery life of the computing device and selecting a power profile for the computing device to ensure that the computing device operates for at least as long as the selected duration. In an embodiment, the apparatus comprises a computing device comprising means for providing battery power and means for altering a power profile of the computing device.
