  • Patent number: 10461855
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide for a method of forming a communication link between two communication devices using a primary search pattern and a secondary search pattern. A misalignment between a first optical system of a first communication device and a second optical system of a second communication device is detected. The first optical system is rotated according to the primary search pattern, and the second optical system according to the secondary search pattern. At the second communication device, a set of frames is captured. Then, it is determined whether a beacon beam transmitted from the first communication device is detected in the one or more of the captured frames. When it is determined that the beacon beam is detected, the communication link is formed between the first communication device and the second communication device.

  • Publication number: 20190303460
Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed for implementing database schema modifications. In some embodiments, pending schema object changes are determined for a first database. An object tree is generated including populating the object tree with object definition nodes for schema objects to be modified by the pending schema object changes. The object definition nodes are modified in accordance with the pending schema object changes. Based on the modified object definition nodes, single-operation transactions are sequentially generated that each correspond to one of the pending schema object changes, wherein at least two of the single-operation transactions correspond to one of the pending schema object changes. A database schema is modified including executing change statements derived from the single-operation transactions.

  • Publication number: 20190303461
Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed for implementing database schema modifications. In some embodiments, a list of single-operation transactions are generated based on a set of pending schema object changes including recording object alter transactions and sequence control transactions in a first sequence. Based on the single-operation transactions, the first sequence, and an operation sequence specified by an object modification protocol of a database management system, modifications to the first sequence are determined. The list of single-operation transactions are re-ordered by implementing the determined modifications to the first sequence to generate a re-ordered list of single-operation transactions. Change statements from the single-operation transactions are generated in an execution sequence corresponding to the re-ordered list of single-operation transactions.

  • Patent number: 10402624
Abstract: One embodiment may take the form of a method of operating a computing device to provide presence based functionality. The method may include operating the computing device in a reduced power state and collecting a first set of data from a first sensor. Based on the first set of data, the computing device determines if an object is within a threshold distance of the computing device and, if the object is within the threshold distance, the device activates a secondary sensor to collect a second set of data. Based on the second set of data, the device determines if the object is a person. If the object is a person, the device determines a position of the person relative to the computing device and executes a change of state in the computing device based on the position of the person relative to the computing device. If the object is not a person, the computing device remains in a reduced power state.

  • Patent number: 10372191
Abstract: One embodiment may take the form of a method of operating a computing device in a reduced power state and collecting a first set of data from at least one sensor. Based on the first set of data, the computing device determines a probability that an object is within a threshold distance of the computing device and, if so, the device activates at least one secondary sensor to collect a second set of data. Based on the second set of data, the device determines if the object is a person. If it is a person, a position of the person relative to the computing device is determined and the computing device changes its state based on the position of the person. If the object is not a person, the computing device remains in a reduced power state.

  • Publication number: 20190105953
Abstract: A tire pressure monitor system allows for customized configurations and a variety of intelligent alerts to increase usability and reliability over existing tire pressure monitor systems. A central receiver determines the alerts, rather than individual receivers, so that the tires can be monitored as a system rather than as individual tires. For instance, a Cross-Axle Alert is triggered when the pressure in a tire on one side of an axle is significantly greater than the pressure in a tire on an opposite side of the axle. Additional features include the use of Dynamic Reference Pressures, as opposed to static reference pressures, so that the alert parameters can be adjusted according to the current driving conditions. A robust user interface provides a user with a variety of views and screens and enables an administrator to adjust alert parameters while preventing a driver from adjusting the same parameters.

  • Patent number: 10174338
Abstract: A method to generate siRNAs in vivo is described, as are constructs and compositions useful in the method. The method does not depend on the use of DNA or synthetic constructs that contain inverted duplications or dual promoters so as to form perfect or largely double-stranded RNA. Rather, the method depends on constructs that yield single-stranded RNA transcripts, and exploits endogenous or in vivo-produced miRNAs or siRNAs to initiate production of siRNAs. The miRNAs or siRNAs guide cleavage of the transcript and set the register for production of siRNAs (usually 21 nucleotides in length) encoded adjacent to the initiation cleavage site within the construct. The method results in specific formation of siRNAs of predictable size and register (phase) relative to the initiation cleavage site. The method can be used to produce specific siRNAs in vivo for inactivation or suppression of one or more target genes or other entities, such as pathogens.

  • Publication number: 20180172915
Abstract: An optical communication terminal is configured to operate in two different complementary modes of full duplex communication. In one mode, the terminal transmits light having a first wavelength and receives light having a second wavelength along a common free space optical path. In the other mode, the terminal transmits light having the second wavelength and receives light having the first wavelength. The terminal includes a steering mirror that directs light to and from a dichroic element that creates different optical paths depending on wavelength, and also includes spatially separated emitters and detectors for the two wavelengths. A first complementary emitter/detector pair is used in one mode, and a second pair is used for the other mode. The system also includes at least two ferrules. • Patent number: 9939651
Abstract: An example beam splitting apparatus is assembled from multiple prisms that are assembled together along respective mating surfaces to form a single monolithic optical device. The beam splitting apparatus includes optical features, such as dichroic and reflective surfaces, that define optical paths for light that enters the beam splitting apparatus. The optical features allow photons in the light to be directed along different optical paths based on their wavelengths. The optical features in the beam splitting apparatus are provided by coatings, films, and/or surface treatments applied to any of the faces of the prisms. In particular, coatings, films, and/or surface treatments are applied to the mating surfaces of the prisms so that the optical features are internal to the assembled monolithic optical device. The beam splitting apparatus may be implemented in a communication terminal that exchanges data modulated light according to frequency-division duplex communications.
