  • Patent number: 4367715
Abstract: A distributor injection pump for diesel engines is disclosed. The pump includes a hydraulically balanced distributor head housing the moving parts of a cam actuated opposed piston injection pump rotatably driven in synchronization of the engine. A single solenoid valve disposed along the spill path of the injection pump controls the timing and duration of the fuel injection pulses generated at each of the pump's distributor output ports.

  • Patent number: 4185779
Abstract: A fuel injector, especially adapted for diesel engines, is disclosed in which injection timing and fuel metering may be controlled from cycle to cycle of engine operation. Means are provided to control the timing of the injection independently of the metering of the fuel quantity for the injection cycle. The injector comprises an injector pump and timing valve means, including a solenoid valve and a shuttle valve, which controls the energization of the pump to execute an injection stroke. It also comprises metering valve means, including a solenoid valve and a shuttle valve, which controls the return stroke of the injector pump to meter the fuel quantity to be injected on the injection cycle.

  • Patent number: 4068640
Abstract: An internal combustion engine fuel injection system of the type having a plurality of fuel injection valves which are operated so that continuously pressurized fuel is intermittently supplied to each of the injectors by a distributor. The fuel injection control system further includes a novel flow control circuit for operating each of the fuel injectors, the flow control circuit being a bidirectional flow control circuit which controls the flow of fluid to and from the actuator of the fuel injector. The flow of fluid in one direction through the flow control circuit controls the rate of closing of the fuel injection nozzle while the flow of fluid in the opposite direction through the flow control circuit controls the rate of opening of the fuel injection nozzle.
