  • Patent number: 4238135
Abstract: A seat belt kit for a pedestal seat base of the type in which the base's seat support and pedestal are connected together in swivel relation. In preferred form, the seat belt kit includes a tubular connector bar structured to be received on rearwardly and downwardly facing bar seats formed integral with the base's seat support. The tubular bar is held in fixed relation with the base's seat support only by bolts which extend from interiorly of the seat support into tapped bores in the bar's sidewall so that the bolts are not exposed. The seat belt is connected to each end of the tubular bar, on either side of the seat, by bolts threaded axially into the bar.

  • Patent number: 4231539
Abstract: An improved seat base for a swivel type seat in which the base's seat support and pedestal are connected together in swivel relation by a thrust bearing of inverted conical configuration. In preferred form, a latch dog is movable between a latch position defined by a latch seat in the outer bearing collar for preventing swivel type rotation of the seat, and a release position where the latch dog is withdrawn from the latch seat into the interior of the thrust bearing for allowing swivel type rotation of the seat. The latch dog is pivotable on a horizontal axis oriented above the thrust bearing between those two positions through a latch post in the inner bearing collar by use of a lift arm connected thereto, the lift arm having a handle located adjacent to the seat's front edge.

  • Patent number: 4099774
Abstract: A chair having a novel structure by which the seat cushion and backrest cushion are attached to the chair frame. The chair includes a novel first adjustment device by which the horizontal position of the backrest, and the rearward tilt pressure of the backrest, may be varied by manual operation of the same structural element. The chair also includes a novel second adjustment device located interiorly of the backrest by which the backrest can be vertically positioned relative to the seat.

  • Patent number: 3934930
Abstract: A back support for a chair having a seat and a back pad. The support includes an elongated support member attached at one end to the chair seat and at its other end to the back pad. The back pad attachment includes a flexible block attached to the back pad with a clip disposed in part between the block and the pad. The clip includes top and bottom portions disposed on either side of the block with one of the portions including a lip along one edge thereof. The block and the clip are forced into a pocket on the support member. The pocket includes a slot to receive the lip thereby securing the back pad to the support member. The flexing of the block permits the back pad to pivot thereby adjusting the back pad position to the contour of the back of a person seated on the chair.
