Abstract: A plant cage for placement about a plant for assisting in plant growth. At least three vertical rods are arranged relative to one another to define a three-dimensional area into which the plant is locatable. One or more ring members have a circular shape and are formed from two separate components that are pivotal relative to one another to provide an open position for the cage. Two fasteners are connectable to each of the two ring ends. Grommets are disposed on the rods and connect to the ring member, and are positioned at a vertical height along the rods.

  • Publication number: 20140136542
Abstract: A computer implemented method includes accepting a corpus of documents organized in categories. Labels are selected for the categories based upon author frequency-inverse document frequency criteria that measures the total number of authors who utilize a given term within a category in comparison to the total number of authors who utilize the term both inside the category and outside the category. Clusters within each category are created based upon the labels. Each document in a cluster contains the term selected as a label for the cluster.

  • Patent number: 8280888
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for creating question and document titles representing the relevant content of the question or document and optimized for a search engine where the title is of the appropriate character length such that search engines will view and index the entire title. A method includes receiving a document in which an optimized title is desired, identifying a maximum number of characters a search engine reads when characterizing the document, applying phrasal analysis to the document, identifying topics included in the document, computing candidate titles based on the identified topics, sorting the candidate titles based on the number of topics in each candidate title, selecting the candidate title with the largest number of topics as a candidate optimized title, and selecting the candidate optimized title in response to determining that the candidate optimized title character length is less than the maximum size.

  • Patent number: 6613097
Abstract: A hydraulic swing phase control unit for an artificial lower limb including a thigh part and a shin part connected at a knee joint, includes a hydraulic cylinder connected to one of the thigh part and the shin part, a piston movable in the hydraulic cylinder and connected to the other of the thigh part and the shin part, a fluid passage positioned to pass hydraulic fluid pressurized by movement of the piston in the hydraulic cylinder; and a variable sharp edged orifice at the fluid passage. The variable orifice is formed from a sharp edged orifice and a manually rotatable sleeve positioned to at least partly overlap the orifice. At least one low restriction fluid passage in the cylinder is fluidically connected in parallel with the variable sharp edged orifice to permit minimal resistance to movement of the piston during a portion of the movement thereof.

  • Publication number: 20020189163
Abstract: A self-watering plant holder having a central, upright post with four horizontal radial arms extending outwardly thereof. A plant container, such as a bucket with a handle, is mounted on each radial arm. A base extends radially outwardly in a preferred embodiment from the lower end of the post to support the post. A manifold is mounted to the post, and houses a chamber with a closure for the addition of water and/or fertilizer. Watering lines extend from the manifold into one or more of the plant containers for watering and/or feeding the plants.

  • Patent number: 5800567
Abstract: A knee mechanism for a lower limb prosthesis which maintains knee stability over an initial range of flexion and includes an upper member for connection to or forming part of the thigh component of a prosthesis, a lower member for connection to or forming part of the shin component of a prosthesis, and a slider and a crank connecting the upper member to the lower member. The locus of the instantaneous center of rotation of the mechanism is a curve which commences above the knee and posterior to the load line and which, over an initial range of flexion of the mechanism, moves continuously downwards and to the posterior, the curve being convex towards the posterior. The lower member, the slider and the crank preferably constitute a slider crank mechanism with the crank pivotally connected to the upper and lower members and the slider pivotally connected to the lower member and slidably connected to the upper member.

  • Patent number: 4439647
Abstract: An improved capacitive keyboard uses a standard printed circuit board provided in various locations with spaced conductor pairs. A conductive disc with a flat insulated lower surface is aligned above each conductor pair. All of the discs are suspended above the printed circuit board within apertures of a web of polymer foam material and held in position by a sheet of adhesive covered plastic that covers and adheres to the entire upper surface of the web and each of the discs.

  • Patent number: 3957396
Abstract: A hydraulic system including a variable-delivery pump and a pressure compensator having a spring load applied to one end of the compensator spool. Means are provided for applying a force to the other end of the compensator spool proportional to the pressure obtained from a variable pressure-dividing system connected between the pressure line and tank. This pressure dividing system may consist of a pair of restrictors at least one of which is adjustable. Alternatively, it may consist of a spring-loaded check valve between the pressure line and the compensator chamber and a restrictor from the compensator chamber to tank.
