  • Publication number: 20080304277
Abstract: A projector optic assembly for generating and projecting a high gradient beam. The assembly includes a light pipe defining an optical axis and having a collection unit, a funneling unit, and an emitting surface. The collection unit extends from a first end to a transition plane defining the transition from the collection unit to the funneling unit. The collection unit is configured to collect light from a source and direct it through the transition plane, whereafter the funneling unit extends from the transition plane to the emitting surface. The emitting surface has an area smaller than an area of the transition plane selected to increase the efficiency of the funneling unit.

  • Patent number: 7438454
Abstract: An automotive light assembly produces numerous beam patterns meeting automotive requirements through the reduction of light scatter and collection and redirection in efficiencies. A light source projects light laterally, which is collected by a light conducting body having a hub and a plurality of fingers extending from the hub. By using a plurality of small individual fingers, large and bulky light pipes are eliminated and the light collection and redirection efficiency is improved.

  • Patent number: 7401948
Abstract: A near field lens for an automotive light assembly which has a reduced thickness. Generally, the near field lens includes a main body of light transmitting material. A pocket is formed in the main body for receiving light from a light source. The pocket is defined by an inner radially facing surface and an inner axially facing surface. The inner radially facing surface is structured to reduce the thickness of the lens.

  • Patent number: 7207700
Abstract: A near field lens is for an automotive light assembly, generally comprising a central body positioned between opposing side bodies. The central body extends in a vertical direction, while the side bodies are positioned on horizontal sides of the central body. The opposing side bodies are structured to collimate the light both horizontally and vertically, while the central light body is structured to collimate the light vertically but not substantially collimate the light horizontally.

  • Patent number: 7160010
Abstract: A light manifold for an automotive light module emitting light to the side of a longitudinal axis along which light is to be directed. The light module is structured in a manner that permits the creation of light distribution patterns for particular functions, such as the stop light function for an automobile, that are otherwise difficult to effectively produce.

  • Patent number: 6850095
Abstract: A projector optic assembly is disclosed for use with various light emitting sources to collect direct the rays of light into a high gradient beam pattern. The projector optic assembly includes a light pipe and a projector lens. The light pipe is segregated into several regions including a reflecting region, a funneling region and a transition plane separating the two regions. At the first end of the reflecting region, closest to the light emitting source, is a connecting lens. At the second end of the funneling region is an emitting aperture that is designed to refract light into the high gradient beam pattern.
