  • Patent number: 5797558
Abstract: The invention is a dual reel cord take-up device for flat wire cable which has a generally semi-cylindrical upper and lower case half which snap together over a dual-purpose shaft to make two compartments. The first compartment is a cord extension and take-up compartment which is divided in two by a slotted disk on the dual-purpose shaft in that compartment. Flat wire cable is wound on the dual-purpose shaft in both compartments, and extends through two apertures in the walls of the compartment. The cable in one aperture is fixed so it does not move in and out of the aperture. The wire cable in the second aperture is free to extend or retract through the aperture. A spring provides the power to retract cable into the take-up device.

  • Patent number: 5782648
Abstract: A device to secure an electric plug to a wall outlet by the use of a fastener which attaches to the electric cord and which also attaches to the wall socket. The device is of two pieces, to allow adjustment for the size of the electrical plug. The device attaches to the wall socket by the use of a shouldered screw which replaces the standard screw holding the wall place in place. One version of the device is designed to securely connect an electric plug to an extension cord.

In the second compartment is a flat coil spring fixed on its outside end to a generally cylindrical spring cup within said compartment, and fixed on its inside end to the dual-purpose shaft in that compartment. The spring cup is biased against rotation except to tighten the spring, so the shaft is continually under tension to rotate and retrieve the cable into the take-up compartment.

  • Patent number: 5354954
Abstract: A multiple conductor electric cable (10) having a plurality of conductors (12), each formed of a multi-filament tensile core (14) of unbonded aramid fibers (16). The conductors (12) further have at least a pair of tinsel conductor ribbons (18, 20), spirally wrapped in the same direction about tensile core (14). Further, conductors (12) are arranged in an orientation wherein the spiral wraps of conductor tinsel in each conductor (12) are in alternating directions from one conductor (12) to the next within a thermoplastic insulating jacket (22), which is further encased within polyester jacket (26).

  • Patent number: 5230481

The first compartment is a cord take-up compartment which is divided in two by a slotted rib on the shaft in that compartment. Flat wire cable is received in both sides of the compartment through apertures in the walls of the compartment.

  • Patent number: 5114091
Abstract: A dual take-up reel device (10) is disclosed which includes a dual reel spool assembly (27) having a pair of winding hubs (29) axially secured together and separated by a main spool disc (28). An arcuate cord slot (31) is provided in main spool disc (28) for centrally attaching a flat tape cord (11) around winding hubs (29). Dual reel spool assembly (27) is rotatably held and encased by first and second main housing halves (13) and (19). The two ends of flat tape cord extend outward from the housing through first and second cord slots defined by first and second cord slot defining notches 59a and 59b and 60a and 60b. A flat coil spring (48) is attached within its own casing and between dual reel spool assembly (27) and second main housing house (19) via spring locking key (51) and radially biases dual reel spool assembly (27) about its axis to retract any slack in flat tape cord (11) into the housing and around the reels on dual reel spool assembly (27).

  • Patent number: 4964370
Abstract: Plastic parts have press fit connections requiring no glue or sonic welding. In addition to animal collars the retractor mechanism is used in different types of housings for other purposes such as child restraint or pulling a suitcase on wheels. For use with an animal collar the housing has a leash outlet tunnel and a parallel collar strap tunnel, and may have a transverse clip tunnel to receive a clip for detachably mounting the retractor mechanism on the collar.

  • Patent number: 4646987
Abstract: A tape containing communication conductors, such as telephone wires, or conductors for other purposes, is connected at mid-length to the hub of a spring operated takeup reel so that the reel winds in the opposite end portions of the tape one on top of each other in a single roll of tape. The reel, including its housing, is supported by the opposite ends of the tape.

  • Patent number: 4328767
Abstract: A retractor mechanism is mounted on the collar adjacent the buckle, the weight of these parts holding them under the animal's neck when the leash is retracted. A guide ring half way around the collar provides a stop for a handle on the free end of the leash when the leash is retracted, thus positioning the handle on top of the animal's neck when the leash is not in use. A semicircular spring steel stiffening member extends between the retractor mechanism and said guide ring to secure these parts to the collar and provide a smooth sliding surface for the leash as it is extended and retracted.
