    Abstract: A device for positioning shafts supported for axial and angular movement in a bore formed in a housing includes detent recesses and spring-loaded bolt subassemblies surrounding the shaft in an enlarged portion of the bore on which the shaft is located. A concentrically arranged, radially expandable spring element has recesses on mutually facing longitudinal edges and is fixed axially in the housing. The shaft is provided with resiliently biased radial projections extending between the mutually facing edges on which the recesses are formed.
