  • Patent number: 5165214
Abstract: A space frame of double-layer flat grid type, in which the upper grid is skewed or angularly displaced by 45.degree. relative to the lower grid, has pairs of oblique struts (16) connecting the lower grid nodes (14) to the upper grid nodes (15). At a lower grid node (14) where two chords (10, 11) are superimposed, one pair of oblique struts (16) in a vertical plane through one chord (10) has a common terminal (17) between the two chords (10 and 11). A bolt (22) through the terminals (17) and the chords (10 and 11) secures the parts together. At the nodes (15) of the upper grid, the terminals (19) of the struts (16) are interposed between the superimposed upper grid chords (12 and 13) and secured by bolts (21).

  • Patent number: 4704836
Abstract: In a space frame of the type having upper and lower grids of tubular longitudinal and lateral chord members, (10, 11), the nodes or intersections of chords (10, 11) of the upper and lower grid being interconnected by oblique struts (14), the chords (10, 11) are flattened at each intersection and overlapped, the struts (14), which are also tubular, being flattened and deformed at their ends to form attachment pads (15), bolts (17) connecting the attachment pads (15) and overlapped flattened chord sections (12) and also load distribution plates (19, 20, 21, 22) of which one (22) has side edges abutting against shoulders or abutments (16) on the struts (14) adjacent to the attachment pads (15), and others (19, 20, 21) have corner portions bearing on the ends of the top and bottom of the flattened sections (12) of the chord members.

  • Patent number: 4622795
Abstract: A space frame consists mainly of a number of frame members, assemblies of which have their ends co-joined at nodes, the frame members connected at nod being an assembly of chords and in many cases, a further assembly of oblique struts. At a node, the nodal end of each frame member of an assembly includes transversely stepped upper and lower parts, the upper part being superimposed on the lower part of the nodal end of the next succeeding frame member of the assembly each pair of upper and lower parts superimposed at the node being secured together, for example bolts.

  • Patent number: 4438616
Abstract: At each of the nodes (20) of a double-layer flat grid space frame, the longitudinal chord members (10,12) and the lateral chord members (11,13) of both the upper grid and the lower grid are in superimposed crossing arrangement, the ends (18) of the diagonal struts (14) which interconnect the nodes (20) of the upper and lower grids being interposed between longitudinal chord members (10,12) and lateral chord members (11,13), a connector member (19) being secured through the end (18) of each diagonal strut (14) extending from the node (20) and through the chord members above and below it.
