The ManagedElement object contains one or more ManagedFunction objects which perform and report measurements. Each ManagedFunction object has one or more Measurement objects (106) that specifies a measurement, and lists a reporting period. The ManagedElement object contains a PMControl object (104), which specifies the reporting mode and includes an administrative state attribute of the ManagedElement object that is controlled by the network management system (20). The ManagedElement object controls (110) an operational state attribute of the PMControl object based on resources to perform the measurement and access to the relevant reporting mechanism (108). When both states of the PMControl object are set to a functional value (112), the ManagedFunction objects perform (114) and report (118) the results of measurement specified in associated Measurement objects.

The method is performed in response to a first request to set up a first network slice. The method comprises identifying (102) one or more network nodes in the network and/or one or more second network slices to support the first network slice. For each identified network node, an update to an attribute of the identified network node is initiated (104) to add a unique identifier of the first network slice to the attribute of the identified network node. The request includes an address of a destination device that is to receive trace log data or data enabling the locating of the address. The core network management device then automatically orders, based on the request, network elements of an access network section (AN) of the wireless network (WN) to perform tracing regarding the wireless terminal and ensures that the trace log data is sent to the destination trace log data handling device. The request with the address may be sent from an access network management device in the access network section (AN).

Abstract: A method, an Element Manager (EM), a Network Manager (NM), an EM node, and a NM node configured to deploy virtualized Managed Elements (vMEs) in a network. Abstract: A system and method for detecting, reporting and collecting information associated with network events is provided. A network element, such as an Event Reporter, detects an event that requires reporting to a manager of the network. The Event Reporter can determine if it is the lead responsible for reporting the event and forward it directly to the manager. Alternatively, it can forward the event report to a peer entity that has been designated as the lead. If the Event Reporter is the lead for the event, it can determine that it should relinquish the lead responsibility and initiate a hand-over of the lead role to a peer.

The correlation among the events results from a propagation of a root event through communication entities of the one or more network elements. In a method implementation the technique comprises the step of receiving a plurality of event messages from one or more network elements, wherein an event message pertaining to an event reported by a particular network element signals an occurrence context, the occurrence context comprising one or more context identifiers describing an internal communication state of the communication entity in which the event occurred at the time when the event occurred. In another step, a set of correlated events linked by identical context identifiers is determined. Based on the set of correlated events, the root event may be identified.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining a version of a standard publication that is supported by a network element are provided. Version map information is requested and received from an external node in a managed network, including publication identifiers for at least one of the network elements. Each network element identified in the version map has an associated publication version and an indication of if the publication can be applicable to its directly or indirectly inferior nodes in the hierarchical instance tree. If a particular network element does not have a corresponding publication identifier in the received version map information, it can be determined if the network element can use the publication identifiers of a superior network element in the hierarchy.

And, a notification comprising a summary of fault information sent by the lower level network management node is received by the higher level network management node.
