  • Patent number: 4223282
Abstract: A method of reducing interference components in a frequency-modulated carrier signal in which the modulating signal contains a composite color television signal with a chrominance signal modulated on a chrominance subcarrier wave. In addition to the frequency modulation, the carrier signal is pulse-width modulated by the first-order lower side-band component of the frequency-modulated signal produced by the modulated chrominance subcarrier signal.

  • Patent number: 4213144
Abstract: A method of modulating a composite color television signal on a carrier wave. The luminance signal is frequency-modulated on the carrier wave. The chrominance signal is translated to a subcarrier wave frequency either by mixing the modulated carrier wave or frequency modulating the carrier wave with said chrominance signal. Subsequently, the carrier wave is pulse-width modulated with said subcarrier wave. In this way a signal is obtained from which the original color television signal can be recovered by a single frequency demodulation operation, while the normally occurring undesired interference components can be reduced substantially.

  • Patent number: 4141033
Abstract: When a color television signal is recorded on a video disc and said signal is read a complication arises owing to the asymmetry which is produced in the signal by the various process steps. This gives rise to spurious components whose influence should be minimized by a suitably selected coding system. The invention proposes a device with which the influence of this asymmetry is automatically reduced. This device comprises two separator stages for supplying two sub-signals which respectively represent the rising and falling edges of the information signal. The phase relationship between these two sub-signals is controlled with the aid of a phase shifter. The control signal required for this is produced with the aid of a detector which responds to an asymmetry component in the information signal. The two corrected sub-signals are subsequently recombined to the information signal.

  • Patent number: 4117509
Abstract: A system for recording a color television signal. The color information is recorded as an amplitude modulation. This color information consists of a first and a second color-difference signal, which two color-difference signals are transmitted in a line-sequentially alternating exhibiting a 90.degree. phase-shift during consecutive line periods. Third and fourth additional signals are quadrature-modulated with the first and second signals, respectively. Each of these additional signals comprises the difference between one of the color-difference signals during a selected line period and the value of the same signal during the preceding or next line period.
