Abstract: A method for conducting an expectation based Mixed-Initiative Dialog between parties in natural language in order to perform a task, at least where one party is a machine. The first party takes the initiative, takes a turn in the dialog by generating utterances. The second party, in response to the generated utterances, takes a turn in the dialog and generates the reply utterances. A cycle of steps is repeated, including mutual and successive utterances, indications and acknowledgements.
