  • Patent number: 6239321
Abstract: A process for upgrading a feedstock comprising lower oligomers and higher oligomers of isobutylene by oligomerizing the lower oligomer fraction thereof to higher molecular weight components.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 28, 2000
Date of Patent: May 29, 2001
    Assignee: BP Amoco Corporation
Inventors: Allen B. Mossman, Egils Vitands
  • Patent number: 5505773
Abstract: A thixotropic gel composition is disclosed as a fiber optic buffer tube compound. The composition as a fiber optic buffer tube compound is resistant to syneresis and phase separation, and to ingress of water and water vapor. The composition has low temperature flowability at -40.degree. C. as determined by a cone penetration test and has continued high temperature consistency at +80.degree. C. The composition retains its low temperature flowability property after a heat aging test at 93.degree. C. The composition comprises polybutene, polyethylene wax, hydrophobic fumed silica, and, optionally, an antioxidant.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 9, 1994
Date of Patent: April 9, 1996
    Assignee: Amoco Corporation
Inventors: Egils Vitands, Robin M. Gryziecki
  • Patent number: 5177277
Abstract: A process for the preparation of hydrogenated deodorized polybutene polymers, wherein the polybutene polymer is hydrogenated, distilled to substantially remove low boiling odorous compounds, and treated with silica gel to substantially remove the remaining odorous compounds thereby providing an improved hydrogenated, distilled, silica gel-treated polybutene polymer substantially free of odorous compounds.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 4, 1991
Date of Patent: January 5, 1993
    Assignee: Amoco Corporation
Inventors: William S. Eryman, James B. Lents, Yin-Chou Lin, Thomas E. Rehm, Egils Vitands
  • Patent number: 5043420
Abstract: A process to hydrogenate and deodorize a polyisobutylene polymer of from 100 to 4000 molecular weight and cosmetic dermatological compositions containing the hydrogenated, deodorized polyisobutylene polymers are disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 4, 1990
