  • Patent number: 5441142
Abstract: Containers such as bottles are conveyed on a conveyor belt in single file between parallel infeed guide rails above its laterally opposite edges to a transition region where the parallel guide rails become confluent with smoothly S-shaped transition side rails that diverge but ultimately become parallel in a container discharge region with the conveyor belt running centrally between them. A flexible and swingable diverter blade has one end fastened down stream of the transition region and has a slider on its other freely movable end. The slider is guided on a rod that extends across and above in the belt in the upstream transition region.

  • Patent number: 5353915
Abstract: A plurality of parallel infeed conveyor belts increase in length from the shortest to the longest in length increments corresponding to the length of groups of equal numbers of containers in rows on the belts. The groups are in multiple file arrangement initially and are translated respectively to the end of each belt to effect disposing the groups in series and offset but parallel relationship. The groups are then advanced together to aligned belts of an intermediate conveyor to arrive at a conversion region wherein all groups that are offset relative to a group on one intermediate conveyor belt are shifted laterally to alignment with the one group so the formerly parallel groups become arranged in single file in condition for being conveyed further.

  • Patent number: 4824514
Abstract: The invention relates to apparatus for printing labels on labeling machines. To carry out the printing procedure, a longitudinally translating ink coated ribbon runs through ink in a container and is advanced by a rotating inking roller. The inking ribbon contacts the outer circumference of the inking roller. In order to achieve interruption-free and low maintenance but uniformly good application of ink onto the stamping or printing head, the invention provides that the inking ribbon, at the point of contact between the ink ribbon and the ink roller, has its longitudinal extension arranged substantially transversely of the rotational direction of the inking roller.

  • Patent number: 4566583
Abstract: In a vessel separating apparatus for use in particular in vessel handling machines, the worm conveyor (6) which cooperates with a conveyor belt (1) and a lateral guide means (2) is provided at least in the entrance region thereof with a great number of resiliently yieldable individual elements in the form of bristles (15) which are arranged on a core (13) and define a thread (16) entering between the vessels. Thereby a high degree of damping of shocks exerted on the vessels in the entrance region and, thus, a low-noise, gentle transport of vessels are obtained. The core (13) with the differently long bristles (15) distributed regularly about its circumference and over its length is releasably connected to a worm body (9) made of a solid material so that it can be replaced easily and quickly, if necessary.

  • Patent number: 4512842
Abstract: A bottle labeling machine has a rotor on which oscillatingly driven members are arranged in a circular pattern around the rotor axis. A pallet shaft is coupled to each member for being oscillated and for tilting on the member. A portion of each shaft remote from the tilt axis is engaged in a universally movable bearing on a support that is slideable radially inwardly and outwardly relative to the rotor axis. There is a curved glue pallet on each shaft for rolling on a glue roller and a label in sequence as the shafts revolve in a circular path. The slideable support is actuated by a pneumatic piston which is controlled by a valve which is, in turn, controlled by a sensor for sensing whether a bottle will be present at an application station to receive a label. If there will be no bottle there, the piston is actuated and the pallet shaft is tilted to prevent the pallet from contacting the roller and label but oscillation of the shaft is not interrupted.

  • Patent number: 4512785
Abstract: An apparatus for drying steam in steam power generating stations, includes a plurality of cyclone separators having upper regions and lower ends, substantially tangential feed lines for a water-steam mixture leading to the upper regions of the cyclone separators, a water tank having an upper region and a lower end, respective discharge lines connected from the lower ends of the cyclone separators to the water tank, a water drain line connected to the lower end of the water tank, and equalizing lines respectively connected at an incline from the highest points of the upper regions of the water tank to a location of the upper regions of each of the cyclone separators above the feed lines.

  • Patent number: 4496040
Abstract: A container rearranging station wherein bottles or other containers enter in single file and are discharged with several of them abreast of each other. The station is comprised of three parallel running conveyor sections. All the sections are tilted at the same angle so as to provide a smooth inclined plane. A supply conveyor on which the bottles arrive in single file is the highest of those on the inclined plane and runs at the highest speed of any of them. The adjacent intermediate conveyor runs at a slightly slower speed and the adjacent lower most discharge conveyors run at a uniform but still slower speed. Inclination angles of the conveyors between the input region of the station and the output region where the containers are abreast are preferably adjustable between 8.degree. and 11.degree. so that the containers drift from the supply conveyor through the intermediate conveyor to the discharge conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4489820
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and apparatus for transferring bottles arriving in an upright position and in laterally adjacent rows on a feed conveyor into a single row of bottles on a downstream or discharge conveyor. The bottles are shifted laterally solely under a gravity effect from the feed conveyor, across an intermediate conveyor whereat they are successively accelerated to the downstream conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4467908
Abstract: A continuously rotating rotor has pockets in its periphery for transporting bottles. The rotor operates next to two star-wheel conveyors rotating at lower peripheral speed and oppositely of the rotor. With each second pocket of the rotor is correlated a cam controlled slide member which gradually transfers the vessels at a first transfer point into the more slowly travelling pockets of the first star-wheel conveyor. The other pockets of the rotor lying therebetween have cam controlled clamps which bring each second bottle to a second transfer point whereby means of two stationary guide members it is gradually transferred into the more slowly traveling pockets of the second star-wheel conveyor. Between the pitch circles of the rotor pockets and the pitch circles of the star-wheel conveyors there is a space somewhat less than the bottle diameter. By transfer of the vessels from the rotor into the two star-wheel conveyors, a perceptible reduction of the conveyor speeds is possible.
