Abstract: A method and device to protect a grinding mill, at startup from a gravity-balanced condition thereof, used for grinding material therein by rotating the drum so that the material adheres to the drum inner surface and rises therewith over a cascading angle from a startup position at the gravity-balanced condition prior to detach by gravity from the inner surface and tumble into a cascading flow. The method is used for protecting the grinding mill from damages potentially resulting from the material agglomerating into a generally solidified lumped volume that could adhere to the inner surface and rotate therewith more than the cascading angle to a fall angle wherein the lumped volume may detach from the inner surface and impact an impact position within the drum.

Abstract: The present invention provides a roller screen gapping system for a roller screen including a series of spaced parallel rolls mounted on pillow blocks at each end thereof, the pillow blocks slidable along respective bed plates transversely of the roll axes to adjust the gap between adjacent rolls. The gapping system comprises spring biased bolts to clamp the pillow blocks on the bed plates, unclamping cylinders carried by each pillow block and exerting an unclamping action on the bed plate to unclamp the pillow blocks for lateral sliding, gapping cylinders carried by each pillow block adapted to contact an adjacent pillow block to adjust the gap between adjacent rolls and a common push cylinder mounted on each of the bed plates and adapted to push all the pillow blocks against a fixed pillow block. A hydraulic control circuit including various solenoid valves controls the operation of the different hydraulic cylinders. The invention also provides for the method of operating the gapping system.

Abstract: The roller screen arrangement includes a plurality of roller systems and a motor for driving the rollers of the roller system. Each roller system includes a drive shaft drivable by the motor driver and a roller associated with the drive shaft. One end of the drive shaft is disposed adjacent to one end of the roller and insert means are inserted into a hollow core of the roller at the one end of the roller. A threaded opening extends through the insert means and centrally thereof. A central screw is mounted in the hollow core of the drive shaft such that a threaded portion of the central screw extends outwardly of the drive shaft at the one end of the drive shaft, the threads of the central screw mating with the threads of the threaded opening and the central screw being rotatable relative to the drive shaft when mounted in the hollow core of the drive shaft.
