  • Patent number: 11242131
Abstract: A high-lift actuation system for differentially actuating a plurality of high-lift surfaces of an aircraft is disclosed. An exemplary high-lift actuation system includes a centralized drive device for centralized actuation control of an inboard high-lift surface of a first wing and a second wing, respectively, and at least two independent drive devices for individual actuation control of an outboard high-lift surface of the first wing and the second wing, respectively. The centralized drive device may include a central power drive unit (PDU) operably coupled to a common central driveline for driving the inboard high-lift surfaces, and the common central driveline may be separate and spaced apart from a respective driveline of the independent drive devices. The common central driveline may mechanically synchronize movement of the inboard high-lift surfaces, and a controller may electronically coordinate synchronized movement and controlled differential movement of the plurality of high-lift surfaces.

  • Patent number: 11174006
Abstract: A drive apparatus for differentially actuating a plurality of high-lift surfaces of an aircraft may include a common rotary and a plurality of clutches incorporated into the common driveline. The plurality of clutches may include a first clutch provided between a first outboard driveline section and a central driveline section of the common driveline, and a second clutch provided between a second outboard driveline section and the central driveline section of the common driveline. A first and second power drive unit (PDU) may be arranged remote from a fuselage of the aircraft and mechanically coupled to the common driveline at a drive connection disposed in a region of the first clutch and the second clutch, respectively. The first clutch and the second clutch may mechanically connect and disconnect the first and second outboard driveline section from the central driveline section, respectively.

  • Publication number: 20200307775
Abstract: A system and method for actuating one or more high-lift flight control surfaces of an aircraft are disclosed. The system comprises actuators operatively coupled between a driveline and one or more high-lift flight control surfaces associated with a wing of the aircraft. The actuators are configured to cause actuation of the one or more first high-lift flight control surfaces in response to being driven by the first driveline. Each actuator is associated with a no-back device configured to prevent an air load on the one or more high-lift flight control surfaces from driving the one or more high-lift flight control surfaces. The system also comprises a backup brake applicable to the driveline. The backup brake can be applied upon the identification of a developing unsafe condition such as an asymmetry condition between the flight control surfaces of each wing of the aircraft or an uncommanded movement the flight control surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20200156766
Abstract: A high-lift actuation system for differentially actuating a plurality of high-lift surfaces of an aircraft is disclosed. An exemplary high-lift actuation system includes a plurality of independent drive devices for individually actuating the plurality of high-lift surfaces. The independent drive devices may include a power drive unit (PDU) arranged between an inboard actuator and an outboard actuator of a respective high-lift surface and an interconnecting driveline. The PDU of at least one independent drive device may include two motors having a respective motor output coupled together in a torque summing arrangement. A controller may be implemented with two independent control channels respectively coupled to one of the two motors.
