    Abstract: To facilitate mounting of each ignition coil into each coil mounting hole formed in each cylinder head accurately with respect to both the longitudinal and angular positions of each ignition coil, a cylinder head is formed with a coil mounting hole including a first large-diameter inclined coil mounting hole, a second small-diameter inclined coil mounting hole, and an intermediate partially conical surface for connecting the first and second inclined coil mounting holes in axially eccentric positional relationship with respect to each other; and an ignition coil formed with an outer casing so as to be inserted into the coil mounting hole formed in the cylinder head. Further, a rocker cover sealing member is disposed along each of junction circumferences of two coil mounting holes and between the cylinder head and the rocker cover to prevent lubricant from flowing from a cam chamber to the ignition coil casings and further to the ignition plugs.

    Abstract: An intake manifold for a V-type multi-cylinder internal combustion engine provided with two banks each including a cylinder head. The intake mainfold comprises lower and upper intake air collectors which lie one upon another and located above one of the two banks. The intake air collectors are supplied with intake air from an air filter. A first group of branch runners are provided to connect the lower intake air collector with the cylinder head of one bank, while a second group of branch runners are provided to connect the upper intake air collector with the cylinder head of the other bank. The upper end section (connected to the lower intake air collector) of each of the first group of branch runners and the upper end section (connected to the upper intake air collector) of each of the second group of branch runners lie one upon another thereby to form a space required for an ignition device and installation operation therefor, between the adjacent branch runners in the cylinder head logitudinal direction.

The intake system is comprised of two sub-collectors disposed above the respective two banks of the engine and fluidly connected with cylinders in the banks. A main collector is disposed above and between the two banks of the engine and fluidly connected through a throttle device with the two sub-collectors. The main collector is supplied with air from an air filter. The throttle device is located at the rear end side of the engine and has throttle valves which respsectively control air flows to the two sub-collectors in response to operation of an accelerator pedal.

    Abstract: In a cylinder head for a DOHC internal combustion engine of the type having four valves per cylinder, a thin, flat recess is formed in the wall above an upper deck in such a way as to communicate an oil supply passage and an upper side of the upper deck. An oil return passage is provided adjacent a head bolt hole for providing communication between the recess and a lower side of a lower deck so that oil having lubricated parts and portions of the engine flows down to the upper side of the upper deck from which it is conducted to the lower side of the lower deck through the recess and the oil return passage. From the lower side of the lower deck, oil is returned to an oil pan by way of a cylinder block.

    Abstract: In a fuel control apparatus by which a basic fuel quantity T.sub.p is first calculated on the basis of a detected intake air flow rate Q and a detected engine speed N as T.sub.p =KQ/N (K: constant) and the calculated basic fuel quantity T.sub.p is corrected on the basis of a correction coefficient COEF related to various engine operating conditions (e.g. coolant temperature), air/fuel ratio feedback correction coefficient .alpha., and a battery voltage correction coefficient T.sub.s as T.sub.i =T.sub.p .times.COEF.times..alpha.+T.sub.s, when an engine is accelerated, an initial fuel increment coefficient KAC.sub.0 is determined on the basis of throttle opening rate and engine speed, and added to the correction coefficient as COEF+KAC.sub.0, and thereafter the initial fuel increment coefficient KAC.sub.0 is reduced at a small coefficient decrement rate DKAC.sub.1 at lower engine speed to prevent hesitation, but at a large coefficient decrement rate DKAC.sub.
