    Abstract: A process for producing a polyarylate comprising the step of reacting (a) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, (b) a bisphenol diacetate and (c) an aliphatic carboxylic acid anhydride of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, to produce a polyarylate containing acid anhydride bonds. The polyarylate exhibits a high impact strength as well as a high weld strength, when formulated in a resin composition together with a polyamide.
