  • Patent number: 6757255
Abstract: A TCP communications performance measuring device 2 obtains an effective bandwidth (a transfer speed) representing performance in TCP communications, wherein performance indexes or both of a round trip time and a maximum segment size which are obtained based on TCP communications variable-length packets transmitted and received pursuant to a TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) defined as protocol of a transport layer of the OSI Reference model, and any one of an average congestion window size, a packet discard rate and a packet discard event rate. The measuring device 2 therefore includes a packet monitoring unit, a performance index detecting unit 22, a session management unit 23, a session management table 24 and a performance calculating unit 25. The measuring device 2 is capable of measuring the performance in the TCP communications on a communications route of a network without specially transmitting the multiplicity of measurement-oriented packets to the network.

  • Patent number: 6574229
Abstract: When service is allocated to a server of the other network on the basis of load information, a packet from a client is transferred as a transfer packet to the other wide area load distribution apparatus. The other wide area load distribution apparatus fetches the client packet from the transfer packet and converts its destination from a transferor address Lx to a server address S and its sender from a client address C to a self address Ly for sending to a server. Upon a reception of a response server packet from the server, the destination is converted from the self address Ly to the client address C and the sender is converted from the server address S to the transferor address Lx for the relay to the client.

  • Patent number: 5030322
Abstract: A method of forming an orientation film of a liquid-crystal display device having two electrode plates and a liquid-crystal cell between the two electrode plates includes the steps of forming an organic film on a partial or overall surface of at least one plate of the two electrode plates and radiating accelerated ions containing neutral atoms to the partial or overall surface of the organic film coated on the plate. The organic film consists of liquid-crystal molecules. The radiation is done for etching the organic film and orienting the liquid-crystal molecules in a unidirectional manner. The angle of incidence of the accelerated ions is defined as 40.degree. to 80.degree. with respect to a normal line of the plate. It results in offering even orientation of liquid-crystal molecules included in the liquid-crystal display device.
