  • Patent number: 8225278
Abstract: Hierarchical state diagrams are reflected in a tree structure with the initial state of the diagram represented as the parent node, intermediate states represented as intermediate levels of the hierarchy, and final states represented as the lowest level in the hierarchy. Information on the modification(s) on a child or subsequent level is transferred to the parent node. Such information includes quantifying and displaying of the modification(s). Accordingly, content and extent of any modifications to the diagram can be viewed at the parent node without requiring review of different levels in the hierarchy to view modifications to the state and/or transition in such levels.

  • Patent number: 7683902
Abstract: A method of enhancing a display of performance data in a hierarchical state diagram includes measuring a processing time P(t) for each transition action code T(t) of each hierarchical level of the hierarchical state diagram, measuring a processing time P(t) for each state of each hierarchical level of the hierarchical state diagram, and modifying the hierarchical state diagram to enlarge or decrease a width W(t) of transition lines in accordance with a ratio of processing times of all transition action codes in a same hierarchical level.

  • Publication number: 20030081000
Abstract: A mechanism for sharing information (annotation information) added to digital contents such as a Web page, by a plurality of users. An intermediate server is provided between a user's client terminal and a server managing digital contents. The user wishing to add annotation information to be shared, acquires the original digital contents via the intermediate server, not directly from the Web server. Then, the intermediate server caches the digital contents concerned and transmits them to the client terminal along with an annotation tool having a program for adding annotation information. Annotation information prepared by this annotation tool is stored in the intermediate server along with position information where it is displayed. For correlating the original digital contents and data about the annotation information with each other, a session key is produced as key information. The intermediate server produces address information (URL) for contents reproduction including data about the session key.

  • Publication number: 20030051042
Abstract: An allocation server connected to a network is provided. When a client transmits a service request to the allocation server, the allocation server selects a process server from a table, and transmits to the client selection information for the selected process server. Thereafter, all processing is performed by the client and the selected process server.

  • Patent number: 6502064
Abstract: A n-gram statistical analysis is employed to acquire frequently appearing character strings of n characters or more, and individual character strings having n characters or more are replaced by character translation codes of 1 byte each. The correlation between the original character strings having n characters and the character translation codes is registered in a character translation code table. Assume that a character string of three characters, i.e., a character string of three bytes, “sta,” is registered as 1-byte code “e5” and that a character string of four characters, i.e., a character string of four bytes, “tion,” is registered as 1-byte code “f1.” Then, the word “station,” which consists of a character string of seven characters, i.e., seven bytes, is represented by the 2-byte code “e5 f1,” so that this contributes to a compression of five bytes.

  • Patent number: 6326985
Abstract: The present invention provides an excellent display apparatus effectively using the display area of the object/window in the inactive state existing on the display screen and a method for controlling the display apparatus. At least one object/window is displayed on the display screen of a display apparatus in a bitmap manner in accordance with the present invention. A determination as to whether a predetermined object/window displayed on the display screen is in an active state, or not, is always made, and the display contents of the predetermined object/window is switched in accordance with the result of the determination. For example, if the predetermined object/window is in the active state, a regular display contents of the predetermined object/window is displayed, and if the predetermined object/window is in the inactive state, another information, such as an advertisement information, is displayed.

  • Patent number: 6119078
Abstract: A Web page in a first language can be translated into a second language by interpreting the URL used to request the Web page. A character string is located that is similar to at least a portion of the URL. A translating environment is linked to the located character string and automatically translates the Web page transmitted from the server. The translated Web page may be displayed in both the first and second languages.
