    Abstract: A driving tool includes a combustion chamber, a cylinder, a valve and a control unit. Fuel and compressed air are supplied into the combustion chamber. The cylinder is configured to movably store a piston which is driven by combustion pressure at a time of igniting a mixture of the fuel and the compressed air filled in the combustion chamber. The valve is configured to open and close a passage through which the compressed air is supplied into the combustion chamber. The control unit is configured to control the valve to supply the compressed air into the combustion chamber when the control unit determines that a return of the piston is completed.

When the edge portion of the mask is etched, the original shape is almost maintained. Thus, the side surface of the mask is kept on the center axis of the ion beam.

    Abstract: In a coating method of extruding a coating liquid through a slit of an extrusion-type coating head to coat a running web, at a starting or restarting of the coating, the coating liquid is extruded through the slit of the coating head while the coating head is away from the web, and then the coating is started while a slightly large clearance is kept between the coating head and the web at the upstream side of the coating head, thereafter changing the coating state or arrangement to a steady coating state. Therefore, occurrence of a thicker portion of the coating film on the web at the start of the coating can be prevented. Further, at the end or interruption of the coating, the coating state or arrangement of the coating head is changed from the steady coating state to a state wherein a slightly large clearance is kept between the coating head and the web at the upstream side, and the coating head is moved away from the web to end the coating.

    Abstract: An energy-dispersive x-ray detector designed so that the space accommodating an x-ray detector device can be evacuated well and efficiently. When the detector device is not in use, a control portion stops the operation of a compressor and the operation of a refrigerator. Then, the temperature of an adsorbent rises. Gas which has been once adsorbed is released into the space, thus deteriorating the degree of vacuum. If the x-ray detector is instructed to operate via a console portion, the control portion operates a vacuum pump and opens an exhaust valve to evacuate the inside of the space. When the output signal from a vacuum gauge indicates that the degree of vacuum inside the space has reached a given level, the control portion closes the exhaust valve, stops the operation of the vacuum pump, and starts the operation of the compressor. As a result, the adsorbent is cooled. Then, the inside of the space is maintained at a desired degree of vacuum.

    Abstract: An electron microscope capable of performing accurate X-ray analysis. A specimen stage on which a specimen to be investigated is placed, is disposed between the upper and lower magnetic pole pieces of the objective lens. The specimen is irradiated with the electron beam to detect X-rays emitted from the specimen. The specimen stage consists of a light element, such as beryllium, that produces a very small amount of X-rays when irradiated with the electron beam. A metal film of a heavy element, such as gold, is deposited on the upper surface of the specimen stage. This metal film produces a large amount of X-rays when irradiated with the electron beam. The X-rays emitted from the lower magnetic pole piece are absorbed by the metal film. Consequently, the X-ray detector of the microscope detects only the X-rays produced from the specimen.
