Patent number: 7354500Abstract: A mask for use with a sample preparation apparatus that prepares an ion-milled sample adapted to be observed by an electron microscope is offered. It is possible to prepare the sample having a desired cross section by the use of the mask. The mask, which defines the boundary between irradiated and unirradiated regions on the sample surface, has an edge portion having an increased thickness compared with the other portions. When the edge portion of the mask is etched, the original shape is almost maintained. Thus, the side surface of the mask is kept on the center axis of the ion beam.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 2004Date of Patent: April 8, 2008Assignees: Jeol Ltd., Jeol Engineering Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tadanori Yoshioka, Eiichi Watanabe

Patent number: 6775257Abstract: A packet-transmitting system comprising a transmitter and a receiver. In the transmitter, the packet-allocating circuit receives a stream of packets. The circuit allocates the packets having PIDs a1 to b1 to the transmission channel #1, the packets having PIDs a2 to b2 to the transmission channel #2, and so forth. The circuit allocates the packets having PIDs aN to bN to the last transmission channel #N. The control-data generating circuit time-divides and multiplexes packet-group data (groups of PIDs) representing the groups of packets to be transmitted via the channels #1 to #N, thereby generating control data to be transmitted through the transmission channel #0. The packets in the channels #0 to #N are multiplexed by a CDM system.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2000Date of Patent: August 10, 2004Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventor: Eiichi Watanabe

Publication number: 20020129978Abstract: A winged scale for measurement of body weight and determination of body fat content includes a scale structure, two wings movably attached to the scale structure by a positioning mechanism, a weighing device, an impedance measuring device, an input device, a data processing device, and a data output device. The two wings comprise right and left wings respectively having right and left electrodes to electrically contact a user's barefoot soles, wherein the right and left electrodes are spread apart as the wings move to an open position. The impedance measuring device measures an electrical impedance of the user through the soles contacting the electrodes. The input device permits entry of the user's personal physical data. The data processing device determines the user's body fat content, based on measured impedance, measured weight, and entered personal data. The data output device may output visually and/or audibly the measured and determined data.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2001Publication date: September 19, 2002Inventors: James G. Patent number: 6351550Abstract: A seal imprint verifying apparatus for conducting verifying work of a seal imprint more properly than in the past is provided. When an image data of the seal imprint surface of a bill, etc. is acquired by an image reader, a CPU extracts only the image data of the color of the seal imprint out of the image data of the seal imprint surface and takes out the image data of a target seal imprint out of the extraction result. The CPU thereafter compares the image data of the reference seal imprint and the image data of the target seal imprint and thereby determines whether or not both image data agree with each other.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1998Date of Patent: February 26, 2002Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Hideyuki Inaoka, Satoshi Kataoka, Eiichi Watanabe, Yutaka Katsumata

Patent number: 5597615Abstract: An extrusion coating head which is disposed between a drier for performing a non-contact drying operation and a support roll located at the upstream side of and nearest to the drier is designed so that a back edge surface thereof is designed to have an round surface having a radius of curvature R which satisfies the following inequality: 3 mm.ltoreq.R.ltoreq.30 mm, and the entire R-surface portion of the back edge of the coating head is located at a position higher than a tangential line drawn to the front edge surface at a slit-side edge point of the front edge so as to project toward the web side. The running web is coated with the coating liquid by the extrusion-type coating head, and then dried through a non-contact drying process.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1994Date of Patent: January 28, 1997Assignee: TDK CorporationInventors: Eizo Tsunoda, Yutaka Shimizu, Naomi Yoshiike, Katsumi Onozawa, Kazuo Katai, Eiichi Watanabe

Patent number: 5458913Abstract: In a coating method of extruding a coating liquid through a slit of an extrusion-type coating head to coat a running web, at a starting or restarting of the coating, the coating liquid is extruded through the slit of the coating head while the coating head is away from the web, and then the coating is started while a slightly large clearance is kept between the coating head and the web at the upstream side of the coating head, thereafter changing the coating state or arrangement to a steady coating state. Therefore, occurrence of a thicker portion of the coating film on the web at the start of the coating can be prevented. Further, at the end or interruption of the coating, the coating state or arrangement of the coating head is changed from the steady coating state to a state wherein a slightly large clearance is kept between the coating head and the web at the upstream side, and the coating head is moved away from the web to end the coating.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1994Date of Patent: October 17, 1995Assignee: TDK CorporationInventors: Eizo Tsunoda, Yutaka Shimizu, Naomi Yoshiike, Katsumi Onozawa, Kazuo Katai, Eiichi Watanabe

Patent number: 5324947Abstract: An energy-dispersive x-ray detector designed so that the space accommodating an x-ray detector device can be evacuated well and efficiently. When the detector device is not in use, a control portion stops the operation of a compressor and the operation of a refrigerator. Then, the temperature of an adsorbent rises. Gas which has been once adsorbed is released into the space, thus deteriorating the degree of vacuum. If the x-ray detector is instructed to operate via a console portion, the control portion operates a vacuum pump and opens an exhaust valve to evacuate the inside of the space. When the output signal from a vacuum gauge indicates that the degree of vacuum inside the space has reached a given level, the control portion closes the exhaust valve, stops the operation of the vacuum pump, and starts the operation of the compressor. As a result, the adsorbent is cooled. Then, the inside of the space is maintained at a desired degree of vacuum.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 1992Date of Patent: June 28, 1994Assignee: JEOL Ltd.Inventor: Eiichi Watanabe

Patent number: 5289005Abstract: An electron microscope capable of performing accurate X-ray analysis. A specimen stage on which a specimen to be investigated is placed, is disposed between the upper and lower magnetic pole pieces of the objective lens. The specimen is irradiated with the electron beam to detect X-rays emitted from the specimen. The specimen stage consists of a light element, such as beryllium, that produces a very small amount of X-rays when irradiated with the electron beam. A metal film of a heavy element, such as gold, is deposited on the upper surface of the specimen stage. This metal film produces a large amount of X-rays when irradiated with the electron beam. The X-rays emitted from the lower magnetic pole piece are absorbed by the metal film. Consequently, the X-ray detector of the microscope detects only the X-rays produced from the specimen.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 1992Date of Patent: February 22, 1994Assignee: Jeol Ltd.Inventors: Mikio Naruse, Eiichi Watanabe, Toru Kasai
