  • Patent number: 8487558
Abstract: An electric vehicle may include a main battery, a charging system electronic device, an electrically powered system-based electronic device, a first high-voltage electric wire; and a second high-voltage electric wire. The electrically powered system-based electronic device and the charging system electronic device may be sequentially disposed in parallel. The electric vehicle may further include a first junction relay capable of isolating the first high-voltage electric wire; and a second junction relay capable of isolating the second high-voltage electric wire. The first junction relay is disposed between the main battery and the charging system electronic device, and a first pre-charge relay which bypasses the first junction relay is disposed in parallel with the first junction relay, and the second junction relay is disposed between the charging system electronic device and the electrically powered system-based electronic device.

  • Patent number: 5932932
Abstract: Eight storage battery cells 11.sub.1 to 11.sub.8 making up a storage battery cell group 2 can be connected selectively to a voltage-correcting storage battery 12 through nine cell change-over switches 13.sub.1 to 13.sub.9, four polarity-inverting switches 14.sub.1 to 14.sub.4 and a current-limiting resistor 15. When the voltages of two or more of the storage battery cells 11.sub.1 to 11.sub.8 are different, the voltages of each of the storage battery cells 11.sub.1 to 11.sub.8 can be equalized by then transferring the charge from a storage battery cell high in voltage to the voltage-correcting storage battery 12 and by transferring the charge of that voltage-correcting storage battery 12 to a storage battery cell low in voltage. As a result, the voltage difference due to the performance variations among the individual storage battery cells 11.sub.1 to 11.sub.8 can be obviated thereby to increase the working voltage range of the storage battery cell group 2 as a whole.

  • Patent number: 5146906
Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes a cylinder head having a plug insertion hole, an ignition plug inserted in the plug insertion hole and having an input terminal covered with a plug cap. An ignition system includes an ignition coil assembly having a primary coil, a secondary coil, and a core extending through the primary and secondary coils, the ignition coil assembly being disposed in the plug cap. The ignition system also includes magnets mounted on respective ends of the core, the magnets being oriented so as to produce magnetic fluxes in a direction opposite to magnetic fluxes generated by the primary coil. The ignition system also has a shield member of a magnetic material surrounding the ignition coil assembly, and an insulating member of an electrically nonconductive material interposed between the shield member and an inner wall surface of the plug insertion hole.
