    Abstract: An image forming apparatus such as a tandem type color image forming apparatus is provided. The image forming apparatus includes a transfer belt that rotates in a rotating direction in which a toner image is transferred. A plurality of color latent image carrying members are arranged successively along the rotating direction so as to form various color toner images, and a monochrome latent image carrying member is located at any one end of the color latent image carrying members so as to form a monochrome toner image. A plurality of color transfer rollers and a monochrome transfer roller are arranged opposite to the color image carrying members and the monochrome image carrying member, respectively, with the transfer belt therebetween. A roller supporting member supports all of the color transfer rollers. A roller shifting unit moves the roller supporting member in a direction in which the color transfer rollers move toward or away from the color latent image carrying members.

The coating layer may preferably contain an acrylic polymer-modified urethane resin. The sealing member is composed of a main portion having a tear strip portion, and a leader portion protruding from the main portion as an extension from the tear strip portion. The main portion seals the opening. The tear strip portion is torn off from the main portion by pulling the leader portion in the predetermined direction. The main portion is adhered to an adhesion area surrounding the opening. The adhesion area has a box-like area recessed in the predetermined direction, at a location facing a part of the main portion adjacent to the base portion of the tear strip portion.
