  • Patent number: 4919103
Abstract: An apparatus for treating fuel vapor, such as in a motor vehicle fuel tank, by subjecting it to adsorption treatment to prevent its direct emission into the atmosphere. The apparatus according to the present invention comprises a fuel tank, a partitioning wall provided within the fuel tank to define a small fuel storage chamber within the fuel tank, a canister container housed in the small fuel storage chamber, the canister container storing therein a fuel adsorbing material. When fuel feeding takes place, feeding fuel is introduced into the small fuel storage chamber to cool the canister container. However, when the engine is operated, high temperature return fuel is introduced into the small storage chamber to heat the canister container thereby promoting the adsorbing and de-adsorbing action of fuel by the fuel adsorbing material.

  • Patent number: 4796164
Abstract: A retractable headlamp mounting structure includes a fixed bracket mounted on an automobile frame for supporting a motor, a movable bracket pivotally supported on the fixed bracket for holding a headlamp, and a link having one end connected to the movable bracket and another end connected to the motor, the motor being energizable to cause the movable bracket to be angularly moved through the link between a position at which the headlamp projects out of the automobile hood and a position at which the headlamp is retracted within the hood. The fixed bracket is disposed on the side of a radiator support facing the rear of the automobile to shorten the distance between the radiator support and the front bumper of the automobile.

  • Patent number: 4667442
Abstract: A construction of a door frame in a motor vehicle, includes a door frame, a door glass, a glass run supported on the door frame, and a core plate connected to the glass run for reinforcement. The glass run has an outer side portion and an inner side portion in sliding contact with an outer surface and an inner surface of the side end edge of a door glass, respectively, and a bottom portion connecting the outer and inner side portions to each other, for vertically slidably guiding the door glass and sealing a space formed between the door glass and the door frame. The outer side portion is disposed such that the outer side portion is exposed to the outside of the vehicle, with respect to the door glass, located at a position where the door glass is shifted toward the outer side portion between the outer side portion and the inner side portion, and the outer surface of the door glass is substantially flush with the outer surface of the door frame.

  • Patent number: 4631865
Abstract: A window assembly for a motor vehicle door wherein the outer surface of the window and the outer surface of the door frame are substantially flush with each other. The assembly includes a window pane with at least one bracket secured to the outer surface of an end of the pane and projecting outwardly from that end in a direction substantially parallel to the surface of the glass. The assembly also includes a door frame having a vertically positioned guide portion with a guide groove open in the direction of the window pane. A slide piece is secured to the end of the bracket opposite the end secured to the pane and is slidably engaged within the guide groove so that the outer surface of the guide portion is substantially flush with the window pane and the window pane is guided in the vertical direction. Finally, there is a weather strip between the window pane and the door frame which is positioned at the vehicle compartment side of the guide portion.

  • Patent number: 4630179
Abstract: A retractable lamp which includes a lamp pivotally held at a first axis to be extended out of and retracted into a housing, a lampcover pivotally held at a second axis to open and close an opening of the housing for exposing and retracting the lamp, and a swing member for imparting motions to the lamp and the lampcover. The retractable lamp can reduce the open area between the lampcover and the lamp which are exposed out of the housing. Due to the reduction of the open area, a reduction in air resistance and noise is thus created and an improvement in the fuel efficiency of an automobile can be realized.
