Abstract: There is provided a compact, lightweight, inexpensive head/disk test device. A spin stand is provided that supports a magnetic head to enable attaching and removal and comprises a fluid dynamic bearing motor that continues rotating even when the magnetic head is attached or removed. Alternatively, the spin stand comprises a fluid dynamic bearing motor and a detector for detecting changes in the back electromotive force or changes in the magnetic flux density generated by the rotation of the fluid dynamic bearing motor and for generating an index signal. Furthermore, the spin stand is provided with a fluid dynamic bearing motor and encloses a conductive fluid in a bearing of the fluid dynamic bearing motor and the bearing is grounded.

  • Publication number: 20040114274
Abstract: A head/disk testing device including an air-bearing plate with which disk mounting and removal are simplified. The head/disk testing device including an air-bearing plate and a means with which the disk and air-bearing plate are moved away from one another so that the disk and air-bearing plate do not contact one another when a disk is being mounted or demounted.

  • Publication number: 20040103625
Abstract: An air blower apparatus for use in an inspection apparatus includes an air blowing device for blowing air via an air filter to a recording medium and a recording apparatus. The air blowing device includes a fan unit provided above the recording medium, and a fan unit housing provided above the fan unit. The fan unit housing includes a first buffer space having an inlet port directed substantially downwardly toward the recording medium, and the first buffer space temporarily accumulates air inhaled from the inlet port. The fan unit inhales air from the inlet port that faces the first buffer space, discharges inhaled air at a substantially constant air flow rate to deliver the air via an air filter from an outlet port to the recording medium by a fan, and the discharged air is reflected on the recording medium and returns to the inlet port.

  • Patent number: 6574105
Abstract: A housing for enclosing a measuring apparatus for a hard disk recording medium and a recording apparatus for recording a signal on the hard disk recording medium is provided with a fan including a high efficiency particulate air filter. The fan blows air onto the hard disk recording medium and the recording apparatus under measurement through the high efficiency particulate air filter at a substantially constant air temperature and at a substantially constant air flow rate. An automatic door is located at a position other than an air protection area which includes positions of the hard disk recording medium under measurement by the recording apparatus and the recording apparatus, and includes a predetermined surrounding area. The automatic door shields the other area from the air protection area in the housing for enclosing the measuring apparatus under no measurement.

  • Patent number: 5921880
Abstract: A low noise chain has a bushing provided with a substantially cylindrical large diameter portion in an outer periphery of a central portion thereof. Inner plates are mounted respectively on opposite ends of the bushing. A hollow thin cylindrical roller, having inner peripheral surfaces opposed across a clearance, is capable of forming an oil film layer relative to an outer peripheral surface of the large diameter portion. The hollow thin cylindrical roller is rotatably externally fitted on the external outer peripheral surface of the bushing between the inner plates on opposite sides. A pair of O-rings is provided for sealing a clearance between both outer portions of the large diameter portion of the outer peripheral surface of the bushing and the inner peripheral surface of the hollow thin cylindrical roller. Outer plates are arranged on both outer sides of the inner plates on opposite sides. A chain pin rotatably extends through the bushing and has both ends mounted on the outer plates on both sides.

  • Patent number: 5498215
Abstract: A pin-ball type reduction gear comprising of a casing rotatably supporting an input shaft and an output shaft such that the input shaft is butted against the output shaft with an interval. A planetary disk eccentrically and rotatably supported by the input shaft. A wave-shaped epitrochoid curve groove, and balls in the number larger than that of the waves of the epitrochoid curve groove, which are provided between the casing and the planetary disk in such a manner as to be engaged with each other and a plurality of pins provided between planetary disk and the output shaft so as to be in parallel to the input shaft and the output shaft, and pin insertion holes each inserted with the pins. The pins and pin insertion holes in the same number are disposed along a circle of the planetary disk or output shaft around the axis of the planetary disk or output shaft and gaps allowing the eccentric motion of the planetary disk to the output shaft are each formed between the pin insertion holes and pins.
