  • Patent number: 6999785
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a communication system which can efficiently transfer data having a comparatively large capacity from a network interface through a radio interface. A mobile telephone is allowed to access a contents server from a base station through a mobile communication network and the Internet. Although the sum of electric power which the base station simultaneously transmits to all of the mobile telephones has an upper limit, the transfer rate to any mobile telephone that is transmitting or receiving large data are changed to a higher level, within a range of a margin. The electric power to the mobile telephone may be checked, and the data transfer rate may be increased when the checked electric power is small.

  • Patent number: 6782084
Abstract: A special call fee charging method is disclosed, that comprises the steps of (a) causing an exchange device to receive a call origination signal from a call origination subscriber terminal unit; (b) causing the exchange device to inquire of a special charging server whether or not the call origination subscriber terminal unit is a specially charged subscriber terminal unit; (c) causing the special charging server to reply to the exchange device whether or not the call origination subscriber terminal unit is a specially charged subscriber terminal unit; and (d) if the call origination terminal unit is a specially charged call terminal unit as the result at step (c), causing the exchange device to notify a general charging server that the call origination subscriber terminal unit is charged a special call fee.

  • Patent number: 6608823
Abstract: A base station BTS1 includes a mobile station-directing measuring/comparing section 171 for selectively outputting a hand-over request signal on the basis of data indicative of the received power level of a talk signal or packet signal 101 from a mobile station MS1. A base station control unit BSC includes a station arrangement information table 105, and selects in response to a hand-over request signal a supplementary base station SBTS1 that executes the hand-over and outputs an operation start command. The base station control unit also outputs a supplementary base station power measurement command when a first identification signal is outputted, and therefore the mobile station selectively outputs a supplementary base station measurement result signal on the basis of data indicative of the received power level of the first identification signal. The base station control unit further outputs a hand-over execute command.

  • Patent number: 6501954
Abstract: A mobile radio communication system which sets a radio circuit efficiently without deteriorating the communication quality even when congestion of communication channels occurs. The mobile radio communication system includes a plurality of mobile stations, a plurality of base station which can be connected to the mobile stations through radio circuits, and mobile switching center for controlling connections between the mobile stations and the base station. The mobile switching center performs connection of the mobile stations and base station for the reverse-link from the mobile stations to the base station and the forward-link from the base station to the mobile stations independently of each other.

  • Patent number: 5842128
Abstract: When a mobile unit (21(p)) initiates a call for communication in a first cell of a first cell set identified in an overall service area of base stations or cell sites by a first area identifier and moves into a second cell of a second cell set identified by a second area identifier, the first area identifier is transferred (S3(n1)) from a first station (17(n1)) corresponding to the first cell to a second station (17(n2)) corresponding to the second cell. When the unit terminates the communication while present in the second cell, the second area identifier is transmitted (S3(n2)) to a central office (11) and to the unit if the second area identifier is judged (S2(n2)) different from the first area identifier. Each station therefore comprises a transferring and a transmitting arrangement. Preferably, a channel disconnection signal (43) carries such a second area identifier. The communication can be terminated at a counterpart unit.

  • Patent number: 5548586
Abstract: A mobile packet communication system and a method of mobile packet communication, which are capable of transmitting packet data only to a specific base station area in which a mobile station for the packet communication exists without transmitting the packet data to all base stations in the same location area, are provided. Although a mobile switching center transmits a call setup information to all base stations at the beginning of the sequence, it can recognize the base station area of the mobile station by the BS area identifier which is attached by the base station to the response information. The BS area identifier is stored in the mobile switching center, and the packet data from the next sequence is transmitted only to the base station indicated in the BS area identifier. When the mobile station has moved to the other base station area during the packet communication, a BS area identifier update request signal is sent to the mobile switching center for updating the BS area identifier.

  • Patent number: 5444698
Abstract: A mobile radio communication system has a base station, first through N-th mobile stations communicating with the base station through a radio channel carrying a communication signal, where N represents a positive integer which is greater than one, and a main station connected to the base station through a communication path having a path propagation delay time. The main station communicates with the first through the N-th movable stations by the communication signal. The communication signal has a first frame and a second frame following the first frame. The second frame may be followed by the first frame with a predetermined period interposed between the second frame and the first frame. The first frame has first primary through N-th primary time slots which are arranged in sequential order. The second frame has first subsidiary through N-th subsidiary time slots which are arranged in sequential order.
