  • Patent number: 5831655
Abstract: Data is printed on a recording sheet by heating the recording sheet at a pre-printing heating region of a heat roller 20, and the recording sheet is further heated at a post-printing heating and fusing region to thereby be dried and fused. In the meantime, air introduced from an exhaust fan 50 is blown into a data writing section from bottom up in the same direction as a recording sheet feeding direction, so that not only the vapor generated from the recording sheet during the heating and the vapor generated from the ink during the printing are eliminated, but also a recording head 40 is cooled.

  • Patent number: 5779377
Abstract: A printing apparatus comprises: a print head comprising an array having an N (N=positive integer) number of dot forming elements arrayed at fixed pitches having a lower end and an upper end; a horizontal scan driver for moving the print head above and along a print medium in a horizontal scan direction; a vertical scan driver for moving the print medium in a vertical scan direction perpendicular to the horizontal scan direction, wherein a vertical scan distance that the print medium is vertically moved when the vertical scan driver is driven one time is selected such that the position of at least one dot forming element, counted from the lower end of the array of the print head in the drive of a horizontal scan is coincident with the position at least one dot forming element, counted from the upper end of the array of the print head in the drive of the horizontal scan drive after a given number of horizontal scan drives; and a head driver for performing a printing operation by intermittently driving the dot f

  • Patent number: 5557306
Abstract: An ink jet printer in which hardened ink is readily and reliably removed from a nozzle plate. The ink jet printer includes a print head having a plural number of nozzle openings arrayed in the width direction of a recording paper, a head drive circuit for selectively outputting a first signal to cause a stream of ink droplets at a speed suitable for print and a second signal to cause ink to ooze through each nozzle opening, and a cleaning device with a rubbing function and which is usually positioned in a nonprinting region, but is movable in the longitudinal direction of the print head and with respect to a nozzle plate. In a cleaning mode, the cleaning device is operated while oozing ink from the nozzle openings. The hardened ink on the nozzle plate is dissolved by the oozing ink, and then removed therefrom through the rubbing and wiping operations of the cleaning device.

  • Patent number: 5481284
Abstract: A printer using a line-type ink jet recording head. The line-type head has pressure producing chambers formed by dividing nozzle openings extending in a recording paper width direction with vertical side walls and upper and lower ink flow paths which communicate with each other through the pressure producing chambers and extend in a horizontal direction. Each ink flow path has an inlet for replenishing ink and an outlet for discharging the ink. A plurality of pressure producing elements are provided for applying varied pressures to the pressure producing chambers for jetting ink droplets. A sealing member selectively seals the nozzle openings by abutting on the nozzle openings when the recording head has been evacuated to a predetermined position.

  • Patent number: 5313248
Abstract: An image formation apparatus is provided having a continuous form photosensitive member positioned to move along a pre-defined transfer path. An image is exposed on to a portion of the photosensitive member along the transfer path. A heat developer heats the exposed image portion and intercepts the heat to an unexposed portion of the photosensitive member. The heat developer has a cylindrical housing having a heated portion arranged along a longitudinal axis of the cylindrical housing and a heating element in surface contact with and for heating exposed portions of the photosensitive member. The cylindrical housing also has an unheated portion arranged along the longitudinal axis of the cylindrical housing and separated from the heated portion by a thermally insulative material.
