Patent number: 6138059Abstract: A vehicle electronic control unit (ECU) prevents its power supply from being cut off while it is in the process of re-programming data in a re-programmable nonvolatile memory. An ECU includes a microcomputer which, after receiving a re-program request from a re-programming device, determines if an identification code in a flash memory and an identification code from the re-programming device match. If the codes do match, the microcomputer executes re-program processing for overwriting all the data in the flash memory, including a control program. The ECU is supplied with power from a battery by way of a main relay whose contacts are closed when a vehicle ignition switch (IGSW) is turned on or when a drive signal is applied to the relay. When the IGSW starts to operate, the microcomputer outputs the drive signal to the main relay and, when it completes re-program processing and the IGSW is off, the microcomputer stops outputting the drive signal.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 1999Date of Patent: October 24, 2000Assignee: Denso CorporationInventors: Yoshifumi Ozeki, Eiji Mori, Toshio Tsuji

Patent number: 4781218Abstract: A valve assembly for use in a fuel tank of a vehicle which includes a first valve mechanism and a dust preventing member. The valve assembly is secured to the fuel tank and the valve assembly allows selective communication between the inside of the fuel tank and the outside of the fuel tank. The first valve mechanism includes a valve casing and a valve body. When the valve body is positioned at a first position, the valve body is positioned apart from an aperture of the valve casing. As a result, the valve assembly allows the communication between the inside of the fuel tank and the outside of the fuel tank through the aperture of the valve casing. On the other hand, when the valve body is positioned at a second position, the valve body covers the aperture of the valve casing. As a result, the valve assembly prevents communication between the inside of the fuel tank and the outside of the fuel tank. A dust preventing member is secured to an outer surface of the valve casing and includes a wall member.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1988Date of Patent: November 1, 1988Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Eiji Mori, Hitoshi Ohkubo
