  • Patent number: 6487868
Abstract: To provide an air conditioner having an antibacterial and mold-proofing member which can be easily incorporated and has high effectiveness and a method for controlling the air conditioner. An air conditioner of the present invention having a heat exchanger and a blower for supplying the heat exchanger with air comprises an antibacterial and mold-proofing member which includes an antibacterial and mold-proofing component which will volatile at an ambient temperature and diffuse in the air conditioner, and also has a control mechanism for gradually evaporating which controls the release rate of the antibacterial and mold-proofing component to the inside of the air conditioner so that it becomes large at high humidity and small at low humidity.

  • Patent number: 5020332
Abstract: A drive control apparatus for controlling the operation of an air conditioner comprises a 24-hour air-conditioning mode, a selector for selecting one of drive and release positions of the 24-hour air-conditioning mode, a load-responsive air-conditioning mode under which the air conditioner is operated in dependence on a load in a space to be air-conditioned, a drive control for effecting one of drive and stop controls of the load-responsive air-conditioning mode, and a preferential output unit for outputting a signal from the drive control in preference to an output signal from the selector. An output from the preferential output unit may be used to drive the operating frequency of the compressor at a predetermined number of revolution, to drive an indoor fan either continuously or intermittently at a predetermined number of revolution, and/or to deflect a vertical deflector blade to a predetermined position.

  • Patent number: 4907646
Abstract: A heat exchanger has groups of cutouts provided on tabular fin surfaces, projecting in the direction of arrangement of the fins. Each of the cutouts has two opposed openings in the main direction of air flow as well as two leg portions that not parallel with the main direction of air flow, the cutouts being formed on the tabular fin surfaces alternately on the front and rear sides with a fin base portion placed therebetween. The heat exchanger substantially reduces heat resistance between the air and the fin surfaces and ventilation resistance when the humidity is high, and excels in noise characteristics since the configuration of each cutout provided on the fin surface on the air inlet side of a cross flow fan is changed.

  • Patent number: 4901534
Abstract: A method for controlling an air-conditioning apparatus in terms of execution of the defrosting mode. The apparatus basically includes a variable-frequency compressor, a room heat-exchanger for performing heat-exchange with a room fan, and an outdoor heat-exchanger provided at the outside of the room, which are circularly coupled to each other to establish a refrigerating cycle. Also included in the air conditioning apparatus are a bypass circuit provided between a first line for effecting a connection between an outlet side of the compressor and the room heat-exchanger and a second line for effecting a connection between an inlet side of the compressor and the outdoor heat-exchanger and a restriction device arranged to allow a change of its restriction amount and provided between the two heat-exchanger. The bypass circuit has an opening and closing valve for shutting off the bypass circuit.
