  • Patent number: 8654065
Abstract: What is provided is a liquid crystal display unit (1), including: a first liquid crystal display element (2) for displaying an image; an accessory (4) provided behind the first liquid crystal display element (2); and a surface light source (3) provided between the first liquid crystal display element (2) and the accessory (4), the surface light source (3) being movable, and the surface light source (3) being moved (i) so that the accessory (4) is shielded in a first case where the image, displayed by the first liquid crystal display element (2), is viewed by a primary viewer of the first liquid crystal display element (2) and (ii) so that the accessory (4) is not shielded in a second case where the accessory (4) is viewed by the primary viewer. This makes it possible to fully shield, with a simple configuration, the accessory provided behind a liquid crystal display device.

  • Patent number: 8355094
Abstract: The present invention includes a primary display region (15a) capable of being directly viewed by a primary viewer of a first liquid crystal display element (2); and a secondary display region (15b) incapable of being directly viewed by the viewer; a backlight device (3) provided so as to face only a portion of a back surface (2b) of the first liquid crystal display element (2) which portion corresponds to the secondary display region (15b); and a reflecting section (4, 5, 6, 7) configured to cause light emitted from the secondary display region (15b) in a forward direction to be emitted from the back surface (2b) of the primary display region (15a) in the forward direction again. This arrangement enables production of a liquid crystal display unit (1) which can carry out, with a simple arrangement, a display that provides viewers with perception of depth.

  • Patent number: 8237889
Abstract: A backlight device in which a reflector can be easily taken in and out and can be efficiently replaced by preventing friction between a casing and the reflector from occurring when the reflector is assembled in the device and variation of optical characteristics after the assembling can be suppressed. In order to provide such a backlight device, the cross sectional shape of the reflector is gradually reduced in its inserting direction.

  • Patent number: 8192055
Abstract: A backlight device is provided with a substrate whereupon a plurality of light emitting diodes are arranged, and a lower side chassis (heat dissipating unit) where heat generated by the light emitting diodes is transferred from the substrate and dissipated to the outside. An amount of heat generated by each light emitting diode is measured in advance, and in accordance with the measurement results of the amounts of generated heat, an arrangement position on the substrate is determined and corresponding light emitting diodes are arranged.

  • Patent number: 8172679
Abstract: In a gaming table (1), image light L1 emitted from a display surface of a liquid crystal module (2) that carries out a dual image display arrives, directly through a window of a frame (4b), at a player in front of the gaming table. Image light L2 emitted from the display surface of the liquid crystal module (2) is reflected by a reflecting surface of a mirror member (3) so as to also arrive at the player through the window of the frame (4b). The player recognizes a first image formed from the image light L1 and a second image formed from the image light L2. Thus, the first and second images are supplied to the player as a background image on the gaming table (1). This makes it possible to realize a gaming machine having a display device that can display a large screen and can reduce the size and cost of the gaming machine.

  • Publication number: 20100073915
Abstract: First protruded strips (12) are formed on the inner surface of the bottom plate (11) of a case body (1) between cold cathode tubes (2), and second protruded strips (13) are so formed on the outer surface of the bottom plate (11) of the case body (1) as to intersect the first strips (12) when viewed from the bottom surface. To further increase the strength of a lamp case (C), it is preferable that the first strips (12) and the second strips (13) intersect each other in substantially vertical direction when viewed from the bottom surface. Furthermore, it is preferable that the first strips (12) and the second strips (13) are formed integrally with the case body (1).
