  • Patent number: 9400463
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a fixing unit including a fixing member that heats a developer for fixing the developer to a medium, a temperature control unit that heats the fixing member and controls a temperature of the fixing member, a transport member that transports the medium through the fixing unit, and a transport control unit that controls a transport speed at which the transport member transports the medium. At least one of before and after an image forming operation, the image forming apparatus performs a temperature control operation of the fixing unit while transporting the medium through the fixing unit. When the image forming apparatus performs the temperature control operation at least one of before and after the image forming operation, the transport control unit causes the transport member to transport the medium at a transport speed slower than a fastest transport speed among a plurality of preset transport speeds.

  • Patent number: 9128431
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes: a fixing member rotatably supported for heating a developer; a pressure member pressing a recording medium upon sandwiching the recording medium with the fixing member; a temperature detection unit for detecting temperature of the fixing member; a temperature control unit for controlling the temperature of the fixing member; a rotation control unit for controlling rotation of the fixing member; an environment value detection unit for detecting an atmosphere temperature; a time measure unit for measuring time necessary for finish of warming up of the fixing member; and a rotation time setting unit for setting rotation time of the fixing member, wherein the rotation time setting unit changes the rotation time from a timing that the fixing member reaches a warming up temperature, based on a lapse time result provided from the time measure unit, where the atmosphere temperature is lower than a prescribed temperature.

  • Patent number: 8620173
Abstract: An image forming device fusing a developer transferred to a recording medium surface based on inputted print data includes a heat source, a fusion member supported in a freely rotatable manner and heated by the heat source, a pressure application member positioned to face the fusion member and pressing against the fusion member, a temperature detection device positioned to face the pressure application member and detecting a surface temperature of the pressure application member, and a temperature control part controlling a heating temperature by the heat source based on a detection result by the temperature detection device. The temperature control part selects a second set temperature that is lower than a preset first set temperature when the surface temperature of the pressure application member detected by the temperature detection device is less than a predetermined temperature, to control a temperature of the fusion member.
