  • Patent number: 6601581
Abstract: The present invention concerns a device for creating a directed spray of liquid or powder particles which is produced by contacting the liquid of powder with a radiation surface of an ultrasonic transducer such as a piezofilm or ultrasound tip. The ultrasonic waves cause the spray to project outwardly from the radiation surface and directs it into a patient's mouth or onto another target. Directed particle spray delivers sharp dosage and uniformed up to 90% particle size drug delivery.

  • Patent number: 6569099
Abstract: The method and device of the present invention for wound treatment includes a transducer to produce waves, preferably ultrasonic waves. The transducer has tip with the distal end (radiation surface). A liquid is directed to the radiation surface wherein an directed atomized particle spray of the liquid is created upon contact of the liquid with the radiation surface. The spray directed to the wound from at least 0.1 inches transmits wave trough particles and has an irrigation, mechanical cleansing, liquid energizing and bactericide effect.

  • Patent number: 6533803
Abstract: A method and device for wound treatment with a combination of laser and ultrasound waves comprises a probe to produce a laser beam and transducer to produce ultrasonic waves. The ultrasonic transducer has tip with a distal end comprising a radiation surface. A liquid is directed to the radiation surface wherein an directed atomized particle spray of the liquid is created upon contact of the liquid with the radiation surface. The laser beam and spray directed to the wound from at least 0.1 inches transmits ultrasound waves as well as particles and has an radiation, irrigation, mechanical cleansing, liquid energizing and bactericide effect on the wound.

  • Publication number: 20020138036
Abstract: An ultrasonic catheter drug delivery device comprises an ultrasound transducer to produce ultrasonic waves, which transducer is mechanically attached to a catheter body or chamber. The ultrasonic transducer has a distal tip with a distal radiation surface, and when a therapeutic agent from a fluid source is directed to the catheter body or chamber, the radiation surface creates ultrasonic pressure and delivers liquid and simultaneously ultrasonic energy to a patient's vascularity or a selected body lumen. The method applies therapeutic agent and ultrasonic waves to the vascular area, lung or any body lumen without requiring direct contact between ultrasound transducer and body, dissolves blood clots, and stimulates tissue cells.

  • Publication number: 20020103448
Abstract: The method and device of the present invention for wound treatment with ultrasound standing waves includes a transducer probe to produce ultrasonic waves. The ultrasonic transducer has a tip with a distal radiation surface that radiates ultrasound energy toward the surface of a wound. Ultrasound standing waves occurring as a result of incident and reflected waves from the wound surface create ultrasonic radiation pressure. Ultrasound radiation pressure increases the blood flow in wound area, and ultrasound waves kill bacteria, stimulate healthy tissue cell and treat wounds.

  • Patent number: 6392327
Abstract: A sonic transducer includes a transducer body and a drive element coupled to the transducer body to produce a sonic output in response to an applied electrical input. A sense element is coupled to the sonic drive element and is configured to provide an electrical feedback output related to the sonic output. The electrical feedback output is adapted to be used to control the applied electrical input to the sonic drive element so as to control the energy delivered to the working area or tip of the transducer.
