Patent number: 10508586Abstract: An air-cooled engine capable of enhancing detection precision of a temperature sensor includes a crankcase, a crankshaft, a fan case, and an engine cooling fan. The installation direction of the crankshaft defines the front and rear direction. The fan case is provided in a front part of the crankcase, and the engine cooling fan is accommodated in the fan case. The air-cooled engine includes a cooling wind passage, a wind passage terminal end wall, an oil splashing device, and a temperature sensor. The wind passage terminal end wall is provided in a rear end of the cooling wind passage, the oil splashing device is provided on the rear side of the wind passage terminal end wall and formed to splash engine oil in the crankcase onto the wind passage terminal end wall, and the temperature sensor is attached to a front part of the wind passage terminal end wall.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2015Date of Patent: December 17, 2019Assignee: KUBOTA CorporationInventors: Eishin Nakashima, Kiyoharu Kimoto, Mineo Takasaki, Masaharu Ohno

Patent number: 10107239Abstract: An air-cooled V-type engine includes a crankcase, a cooling fan disposed at the front end of a crankshaft, a fan casing housing the cooling fan, a pair of cylinders projecting to form a V shape from the crankcase as seen in a direction along an axial center of the crankshaft, and cylinder heads. A distributor for distributing supply fuel from a fuel supply apparatus to intake air passages of respective cylinders is disposed to straddle a contained angle place being a place between the cylinders forming the V shape. Ignition coils respectively corresponding to the cylinders are mounted on the distributor. The distributor is mounted on an air cleaner supporting plate disposed at the contained angle place.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2016Date of Patent: October 23, 2018Assignee: KUBOTA CorporationInventor: Eishin Nakashima

Patent number: 8997724Abstract: A spark-ignition engine capable of reducing the content of hydrocarbon in exhaust gas is provided. When viewed from a direction parallel to a cylinder center axis, given a central virtual line passing a squish area maximum-width section and the center of a combustion chamber recessed section, and one area a and the other area b divided by the central virtual line, an intake valve port or an exhaust valve port is opened in one area of any opposed section of opposed sections of the combustion chamber recessed section. A spark-plug attachment hole is formed in the other area of the opposed section, such that, when viewed from the direction parallel to the cylinder center axis, a spark discharge section at a tip of a spark plug does not overlap the central virtual line.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2014Date of Patent: April 7, 2015Assignee: KUBOTA CorporationInventors: Eishin Nakashima, Shunji Okano, Hiroyuki Kawasoe, Tamotsu Ohashi, Naoki Inoue, Yuki Ozaki

Patent number: 7523726Abstract: An air-cooled V-shaped engine comprises a throttle body (10) and a flow-dividing plate (9) arranged ahead of a central cooling-air passage (8). The flow-dividing plate (9) is provided in a fan case (5) at a position forwardly of the throttle body (10) and has a bottom-plate portion (14) disposed at a position lower than the throttle body (10). The flow-dividing plate (9) divides the cooling air generated by an air-blowing fan (7) toward left and right sides of the central cooling-air passage (8). In this air-cooled V-shaped engine, the fan case (5) has a ceiling wall a central portion (11) of which is positioned just above the bottom-plate portion (14) of the flow-dividing plate (9). The central portion (11) of the ceiling wall of the flow-dividing plate (9) is provided at a position higher than the throttle body (10) as well as the central side portions (12), (12) of the ceiling wall, led out of the central portion (11) in a left and right directions.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2007Date of Patent: April 28, 2009Assignee: Kubota CorporationInventors: Eishin Nakashima, Kiyonobu Iida, Hiroyuki Tsuda, Akiyoshi Morikawa, Noriaki Kobayashi, Masaharu Ohno, Hiroyuki Kawasoe, Yuki Ozaki, Takahiro Tokunaga, Takayuki Nakamae, Mineo Takasaki
