The switching unit switches between, according to an operation input via an operating element, enabling the first processing unit to handle the payment and enabling the second processing unit to handle the payment.

Abstract: A checkout device in a point of sales (POS) system includes a table on which one or more merchandise items can be placed, a scale configured to measure a total weight of the merchandise items placed on the table, a scanner configured to read an image displayed on a terminal operated by a customer, and a processor. The processor is configured to, upon receipt of the image by the scanner, determine one or more merchandise items that have been registered by the customer using the terminal, determine a total weight of the registered merchandise items using a weight predetermined for each merchandise item, determine whether a difference between the determined total weight and the measured total weight exceeds a threshold, and upon determining that the difference exceeds the threshold, issue an abnormal command.

Abstract: A checkout apparatus in a point of sales (POS) system including a customer terminal and an attendant terminal, includes a network interface, a scanner, and a processor configured to, upon receipt of a checkout code from the customer terminal via the scanner, acquire data of one or more commodities that have been registered for purchase by the customer terminal, determine whether said one or more commodities include a particular type of commodity that needs to be checked by an attendant, and upon determining that said one or more commodities include the particular type of commodity, control the network interface to transmit a notification to the attendant terminal before executing checkout processing on the commodity.

Abstract: According to an embodiment, a payment apparatus acquires a data file in which data relating to sale of a commodity is recorded, the data being input through a terminal operated by a customer in a sales floor. The payment apparatus provides the customer with a notification for determining whether or not the customer has service specifying information for specifying a service to be provided to the customer on condition that the data file is acquired. The payment apparatus receives an input of the service specifying information when an instruction input indicating that the customer has the service specifying information is received in responses to the notification.
