  • Patent number: 11032734
Abstract: For a UE in idle mode and camped on a current cell, in response to receiving a paging message indicating the UE should perform a process to select a cell for camping on for idle mode, the following are performed: performing the process to select one of a plurality of cells for camping on for idle mode; and performing operations to camp on the selected cell. The following are performed as part of a continuous load-balancing process for idle-mode load balancing for a cell: determining whether the cell is congested for UEs camping on the cell while in idle mode; and in response to a determination the cell is congested, sending a paging message to idle-mode UE(s) camped on the cell, wherein the paging message is configured to cause the idle-mode UE(s) to start a process to select a cell for camping on for idle mode.

  • Patent number: 10299272
Abstract: A method may include determining, by a base station, a switching occasion during which at least one connected user equipment will be in a connected off cycle and at least one idle user equipment will be in an idle off cycle, instructing the at least one connected user equipment and at least one idle user equipment to switch, during the switching occasion, from communicating with the base station via a source carrier frequency to communicating with the base station via a target carrier frequency, and switching, during the switching occasion, from communicating with the at least one connected user equipment and the at least one idle user equipment via the source carrier frequency to communicating with the at least one connected user equipment and the at least one idle user equipment via the target carrier frequency.

  • Publication number: 20190089832
Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from the appropriate mechanisms for call handling. For example, certain internet protocol (IP) multimedia subsystem (IMS) based emergency services networks may benefit from appropriate initiation of conference calls and of handling of transfers of such calls. A method can include establishing, at an egress node of a network, a media path between an ingress node of the network and the egress node. The method can also include determining that a conference call corresponding to the media path is being invoked. The method can further include contacting, by the egress node, a conference node to establish the conference call.

  • Patent number: 10028155
Abstract: A technique includes making a decision to perform a handover of a user device from a source cell to a target cell at a scheduled handover time, determining, by a source base station associated with the source cell, an estimated data rate for transmitting data from the source cell to the user device between a time of the handover decision and the scheduled handover time, determining, based on the estimated data rate and a difference between the time of the handover decision and the scheduled handover time, a portion of data stored in a data buffer associated with the source cell for the user device to be forwarded to the target cell before the scheduled handover time, and forwarding, from the source cell to the target cell before the scheduled handover time, the portion of data stored in the data buffer for the user device.
