  • Patent number: 5955813
Abstract: In an electric motor with a stationary and a movable active motor part, one of the two active motor parts comprising a motor winding and the other a motor magnet, an air gap being formed between said active motor parts. The motor winding (9) is built up on a synthetic resin carrier foil and is formed through local removal of copper material with which the synthetic resin foil (23) had previously been fully coated. The synthetic resin carrier foil (23) and the planar coils (28) adhering thereto are provided with an adhesive filler material (30) such that the adhesive filler material (30) fills up the gaps (26) formed between the individual conductor tracks through the removal of the copper material. The assembly thus stabilized is wound into an evenly rounded cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5872435
Abstract: An electrical drive arrangement for an electric motor including a stator having a plurality of phase windings, and a rotor. The drive arrangement includes an electronic commutation circuit to supply electric power to the phase windings of the electric motor, a position sensor device, a phase control circuit coupled to receive the sensor signals and provide resultant sensor signals with a phase shift relative to the phase relationship of the sensor signals, a waveform generator coupled to receive the resultant sensor signals and provide commutation signals, and a control circuit coupled at least to the waveform generator for setting the amplitude and the phase shift of the electric power to be supplied to the motor. The phase control circuit includes a control signal generation circuit, a sensor signal allocation circuit, a delay time determining circuit, a sensor signal output circuit, and a load signal generating circuit. The drive arrangement enables the torque angle, i.e.

  • Patent number: 5738072
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for actuating a control member, particularly a throttle valve in a gas conduit, such as for example an intake of an internal-combustion engine, which valve is pivotable into operating positions by means of a valve shaft, an actuator being provided, which actuator consists of a rotor body, serving as an actuator body and arranged on the valve shaft, and of an electrically energizable excitation section, which cooperates with said rotor body, and a position sensor detecting angular positions of the valve shaft, which sensor comprises an angular-position generator and an angular-position detector, which are associated with one another and of the two is mounted so as to be rotatable, the valve shaft itself being constructed to carry the angular-position generator or angular-position detector, and the associated part of the position sensor being stationarily mounted on the housing of the device.

  • Patent number: 5714828
Abstract: An improved spindle motor, particularly for a hard-disc drive, having a stator in the form of a cylindrical coil carried by a mounting plate and a permanent magnet rotor carried on a rotatable hub. At its outer circumference the rotor generates a field perpendicular to the axis of rotation. A bell-shaped portion of the hub surrounds the coil. The hub is supported on the motor shaft by axial and radial hydrodynamic bearings. A soft-iron sleeve-shaped yoke externally surrounds the coil configuration. This permits the coil to be free of soft-magnetic parts, thereby reducing its inductance and improving the dynamic drive characteristics of the motor. The coil is preferably formed by curved foil windings, so there are no winding slots. This avoids the production of detent torques.

  • Patent number: 5682089
Abstract: A control circuit for controlling the speed and stopping time of an electronically commutated motor having a rotary drive member and a stator having at least one phase coil, electric power being supplied to the phase coils by current supply elements which are controlled by the control circuit to obtain a given phase voltage and a given load angle during operation. In response to a supplied stop signal the control circuit decelerates the drive member by controlling the phase voltage and load angle so as to produce a deceleration force which changes dependent on the speed of the drive member; there being a high speed range over which the deceleration force increases to a maximum value as speed is reduced; an intermediate speed range over which the deceleration force remains substantially constant at the maximum value as speed is further reduced, and a low speed range over which the deceleration force reduces as speed is still further reduced to a stop.

  • Patent number: 5624100
Abstract: A throttle valve in a gas conduit (3), such as for example an intake of an internal-combustion engine, is pivotable from an idling position into operating positions by means of a valve shaft (5), the valve shaft (5) carrying an actuator body formed by a magnetised rotor body (9) which, via an air gap (10), cooperates with pole shoes (15) of a stationary excitation section (11), which is electrically energisable by a pick-up, which pole shoes surround said rotor body externally, the excitation section (11) comprising a U-shaped stator whose limbs (12a, 12b) form the pole shoes (15), which cooperate with the permanent-magnet rotor body (9) at the air gap, in such a manner that the rotor body (9) is subjected to magnetic torques which tend to pull said rotor body into a well-defined rest position, in order to thereby return the throttle valve (4) in a direction opposite to the opening direction into a well-defined rest position in the non-energised condition.

  • Patent number: 5288216
Abstract: The invention relates to a fan unit for generating gas streams, in particular for vacuum cleaners, which unit comprises a motor (4) and an impeller wheel (1) which is also electromagnetically active and in conjunction with electromagnetically active parts (19) of the motor stator (3) generates the torque of the impeller wheel via an air gap (11) formed between radial surfaces of the impeller wheel and the motor stator, the electromagnetically active part of the impeller wheel (1) being a conductive disc (7) which is arranged in a radial plane and which has one radial surface (8) bounding the air gap (11) at the rotor side, and the air gap being bounded at the stator side by planar stator poles (19) formed on a radial bounding surface (12) of an iron cylinder (15) by the provision of radial slots (17) in which the coils (20) are arranged.
