In some implementations, the data processing system enables application developers to integrate consumer-permissioned data (such as academic data) into their applications. In some implementations, the API enables a developer to focus on other aspects of a given application, while leveraging the data processing system to handle aspects of gathering and processing the source data, such as authenticating the provenance of the source data, handling user permissions, extracting the source data, reviewing the source data, verifying the source data, generating one or more scores from the source data, analyzing the source data relative to a defined purpose, providing the information sought from the analyzed data, and the like.

According to one aspect, a programmable network server platform can be configured to bind multiple traffic classes in a mixture of inline and tap modes to a group of CPUs. Traffic having the associated classes can be configured to pass directly through while sending a copy down to one or more CPUs, as well as load balanced to a group or sub group of CPUs. According to another aspect, different applications or configurations can be run on different groups or sub groups of CPUs allowing complete flexibility.

Abstract: Systems and methods for remotely updating e-mail message status information for messages forwarded from a desktop e-mail account to a wireless handheld device are provided. The systems and methods of the present invention consist of a software solution that enables users of wireless handheld appliances to: access corporate e-mail by forwarding incoming e-mail messages from the user's corporate account to the handheld appliance; act upon the received e-mail messages at the handheld appliance; and to have the system update the status of the acted upon messages at the user's corporate e-mail account.
