  • Patent number: 11682282
Abstract: A system for detecting a fire or overheating event includes a heat detector, an optical fiber, a photodetector, and a processing unit. The pneumatic heat detector includes a sealed chamber sealed with a diaphragm having an initial position, and the optical fiber is in operable communication with the diaphragm. The optical fiber includes a Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG). The optical signal generator is configured to emit an optical signal with into the optical fiber. The photodetector is configured to receive a reflected optical signal from the FBG. The processing unit is configured to correlate the reflection wavelength of the reflected optical signal with a temperature of the heat detector.

  • Patent number: 11346773
Abstract: A smoke detector includes a laser light source to provide incident light. The smoke detector also includes a Fabry-Perot etalon to transmit some incoming light, which is produced from the incident light, as transmitted light. Smoke particles in a cavity of the Fabry-Perot etalon affect an intensity of one or more wavelengths of the transmitted light.

  • Patent number: 11292435
Abstract: A windshield wiper system (WWS) blade assembly is provided. The WWS blade assembly includes a composite frame and a blade that has a length which is normally shorter than a corresponding length of the composite frame. The blade includes first and second ends attachable to corresponding first and second ends of the composite frame, respectively.

  • Patent number: 11162852
Abstract: A sensor to sense pressure in a pressure bottle and a method of assembling the sensor involve two or more fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) affixed to a different radial location of a diaphragm seal of the pressure bottle. The sensor includes a light source to provide incident light to the two or more FBGs, and a photodetector to detect reflected light resulting from the two or more FBGs. Processing circuitry determines a pressure change in the pressure bottle based on the reflected light resulting from each of the two or more FBGs.

  • Publication number: 20210325256
Abstract: A fire or overheat detection device includes a diaphragm adjacent to a chamber with a gas inside the chamber, wherein the diaphragm contacts the gas. The fire or overheat detection system also includes a Fabry-Perot interferometer. At least a portion of the Fabry-Perot interferometer is coupled to the diaphragm via a linkage. A light source is configured to direct an input light into the Fabry-Perot interferometer.
