Publication number: 20230224724Abstract: Logic may enable client devices or access points to relay medium access control (MAC) frames through a Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) Direct network such as a network of Peer-to-Peer (P2P) connections to extend the wireless range of the devices or access points beyond the transmission range of the individual devices or access points. Logic may extend the range of IEEE 802.11 devices, such as IEEE 802.11ah devices, by allowing a station in the middle of two stations to serve as a relay station using the Wi-Fi Direct technology. Logic may enable relaying to avoid a full mesh technology such as is defined in IEEE 802.11s, since the full mesh technology may contain too many features that are not required for a simple or a static network configuration of such embodiments.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 5, 2023Publication date: July 13, 2023Applicant: Intel CorporationInventors: Minyoung Park, Emily H. Patent number: 11683835Abstract: Currently, spatial reuse (SR) is a feature used indiscriminately for/across all traffic classes. However, systems and methods are provided for reducing channel access latency via selective application of SR for latency-sensitive and high-priority traffic. If a radio frequency (RF) signal is detected on a channel used by an access point (AP) or a client device, a determination can be made as to whether the energy of the RF signal relative to SR energy level thresholds permits transmission on that channel used simultaneously by another, e.g., neighboring AP. If so, frames can be transmitted so long as the other neighboring AP is associated with a different basic service set (BSS) color than that of the AP, and so long as the frames to be transmitted belong to a high-priority/low-latency traffic access category.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 2021Date of Patent: June 20, 2023Assignee: Hewlett Packard Enterprise Development LPInventors: Gaurav Patwardhan, Eldad Perahia, Abhiruchi Dakshinkar, Nitin A. Publication number: 20230179449Abstract: Systems and techniques are described that are directed to filter frequency response shift compensation, including compensating for shifting in the rejection band of the filter. Compensation for the shifting in the rejection band can include applying a pre-distortion to attenuate edge resource units (RUs), and applying PHY Protocol Data Unit (PPDU) scheduling schemes. For example, a PPDU scheduling scheme reduce bandwidth in the channel, thereby dropping the out of band RUs. Front ends provide feedback to a respective radio, which allows that radio to apply the appropriate pre-distortion. The front ends can include one or more filters enabling frequency domain coexistence between collocated radios operating in the differing Wi-Fi bands, and a coupler that provides the feedback indicating the frequency response shift to a radio. The radio can then apply a digital pre-distortion to compensate for the shifting in the rejection band.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 9, 2023Publication date: June 8, 2023Inventors: Nitin A. Patent number: 11665682Abstract: Currently, spatial reuse (SR) is a feature used indiscriminately for/across all traffic classes. However, systems and methods are provided for increasing the reliability of voice traffic and Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) Acknowledgement (ACK) messaging. The result is improved quality of voice calls, and enhanced network capacity. When the length of a data section of a packet suggests that subsequent packets are associated with voice traffic or TCP ACKs, such packets are not transmitted when another transmission(s) is occurring under spatial reuse. When a determination is made that the length of a data section of the packet suggests non-voice traffic or TCP ACKs, they can be transmitted simultaneously with other transmissions occurring under spatial reuse.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 2021Date of Patent: May 30, 2023Assignee: Hewlett Packard Enterprise Development LPInventors: Abhiruchi Dakshinkar, Eldad Perahia, Gaurav Patwardhan, Nitin A. Patent number: 11622379Abstract: Examples of triggered single user (SU) transmissions are described. In an example, an access point (AP) may send a SU trigger frame to a client device for initiating a data transmission by the client device. The AP may detect whether the data transmission is initiated within the Short Interframe Spacing (SIFS) after the SU trigger frame is sent. Responsive to detecting that the data transmission is not initiated within the SIFS, the AP waits for the client device to initiate the data transmission within a predefined time interval after the SIFS. Responsive to detecting that the data transmission is not initiated within the predefined time interval, the AP repurposes the channel access after the predefined time interval is elapsed. Responsive to detecting that the data transmission is initiated within the predefined time interval, the AP repurposes channel access after one of an expiration of a maximum transmission opportunity (TXOP) duration and a completion of the data transmission, whichever is earlier.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2021Date of Patent: April 4, 2023Assignee: Hewlett Packard Enterprise Development LPInventors: Nitin Changlani, Eldad Perahia, Sachin Ganu

Publication number: 20230082306Abstract: Examples of techniques for dynamically controlling data bursts are described. In an example, an access point (AP) monitors a link quality between the AP and a client device associated with the AP. The AP determines a channel occupancy of a channel in which the AP is configured to operate. In response to determining that the channel occupancy is less than a channel busy threshold, the AP modifies a burst duration for traffic flow between the AP and the client device based on the link quality. The AP communicates with the client device using the channel for the modified burst duration.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2021Publication date: March 16, 2023Inventors: Amogh Guruprasad DESHMUKH, Abhiruchi DAKSHINKAR, Eldad PERAHIA

Patent number: 11546024Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for optimizing channel bandwidth while increasing downlink multi-user, multiple-input, multiple-output (DL MU-MIMO) gain. Depending on the access point (AP) platform, for example, APs exhibit certain characteristics regarding DL MU-MIMO gain as a function of the number of DL MU-MIMO clients associated to the AP. Accordingly, APs can be configured to operate in accordance with an algorithm that checks the number of DL MU-MIMO capable clients are associated to an AP, and dynamically switch between single- and dual-radio modes of operation to take advantage of those DL MU-MIMO gains.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2021Date of Patent: January 3, 2023Assignee: Hewlett Packard Enterprise Development LPInventors: Amogh Guruprasad Deshmukh, Eldad Perahia, Sachin Ganu

Publication number: 20220408480Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for using a short data frame sent at a particular rate that can be used to probe a channel on which an access point is operating. The rate can be increased/decreased depending on whether or not transmission of the short data frame was successful or not. In this way, the highest possible rate (which can be impacted by any or all of the following factors: number of spatial streams, modulation and coding scheme, channel bandwidth, guard interval) can be selected to transmit data on the channel. In other words, a transmission rate can be selected dynamically and on a per-packet basis for a spatial reuse data frame that would follow the short data frame based on whether transmission of the short data frame was successful.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 18, 2021Publication date: December 22, 2022Inventors: NITIN A. Patent number: 11516756Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for optimizing the scheduling of Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) transmissions in the downlink (DL) direction. A two-stage mechanism can be implemented when effectuating DL OFDMA transmission involving multiple modulation and coding schemes (MCS) in a single transmit burst. A first stage of the two-stage mechanism may use radio frequency (RF) boosting/de-boosting of Resource Units (RUs) such that the average input power to an AP power amplifier (PA) may remain under a saturated PA output power to ensure PA linearity. If RF boosting/de-boosting is not supported, an alternative mechanism for OFDMA grouping (to rigid grouping) can be employed to skip higher MCS.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2021Date of Patent: November 29, 2022Assignee: Hewlett Packard Enterprise Development LPInventors: Farhan Hasnain, Mohd Shahnawaz Siraj, Eldad Perahia, Deven Patel, Sachin Ganu
