Abstract: A drinker device for foul and stock provides a constant water supply in a cup by means of a valve controlled by a free floating ball actuator. The ball can be readily moved by the foul or animal to access the drinking water without actuating the valve controlling the water supply until the water level drops to an undesirable level. The device also provides convenient height adjustment mechanism and a quick unit replacement feature.

The regulator is characterized by a housing spanned by a diaphragm to define two chambers including a liquid chamber with which the intake and outlet of the regulator are connected and within which is located a lever mounting at one end a valve for sealing said intake in one position of the lever and connected at its opposite end to said diaphragm to be pivoted by the diaphragm. The other chamber of the housing receives a spring for urging said diaphragm to valve-opening position. An adjusting member projects from and is manually accessible externally of said housing and is actuable to vary the pressure exerted against said diaphragm by said spring.

Abstract: A high capacity conveyor for delivering relatively large quantities of poultry feed and the like is disclosed, and a method of operating the conveyor is described. A centerless auger having flights of full radial extent is rapidly rotated to move mixed feed particles down a tube. A rolling action is thus imparted to at least some of the feed particles, thereby reducing the power required to drive the auger. Outlet holes are formed in the tube to dispense the feed to the associated flock feeding station; the holes are formed at least in part in the shape of a V-notch, having one edge oriented substantially parallel to the flight of the auger, so that a slice of feed containing the proper proportion of each feed mix component is dispensed with each rotation of the auger.

Abstract: A trough feeder is disclosed for use with growing fowl. The feeder is partially defined by a relatively low feed-retaining side wall located adjacent a row of retaining cages. Spaced above the cages at a first mounting position is a shield member. Small chicks are induced to reach for feed in the trough from a low position above the trough side wall and below the shield. When the fowl grow larger, the shield is lowered into a second mounting position adjacent the trough side wall. When so positioned, the adult chickens are forced to obtain feed from a higher position by reaching over the top of the shield member, and are inhibited from raking or tossing feed out of the trough feeder.
