  • Patent number: 4686735
Abstract: A carpet cleaning apparatus is provided with a modular construction. A tank module is made up of a vacuum separation tank and a cleaning solution tank, both of which form a uniform cross section. Located at one end of the tank module is a mounting plate which is fastened to a matching mounting plate which in turn mounts the spray and vacuum pumps as well as the vacuum nozzle to form a pump module. The simple yet effective vacuum separation system is provided with directed air and liquid flow. The vacuum is ultimately pulled out of the top of the vacuum separation tank and passes through a tube downwardly through the cleaning solution tank to the pump module. The device is self-contained and easily portable.

  • Patent number: 4152014
Abstract: A swivel coupling for joining lengths of flexible hose together incorporates a pair of cylindrical coupling members rotatably supported within a cylindrical housing at opposite ends thereof. Each of the rotary coupling members comprises an inner sleeve and an outer coupling collar joined by an annular shoulder segment. The annular shoulders bear against adjacent shoulders on opposite ends of the outer housing to restrain the rotary coupling members against outward displacement from the housing. Tubular end segments on each of the coupling collars project outwardly from the ends of the housing for the attachment of lengths of hose thereto.

  • Patent number: 3955553
Abstract: A heat exchanger adapted to be readily assembled and installed in an existing fireplace to recover heat which would otherwise be lost up the fireplace chimney is comprised of a plurality of upright U-shaped tubes secured together in laterally spaced relation by a rear plate removably attached across the rear, upright segments of the tubes. The heat exchanger is placed in an existing fireplace with the open front ends of the bottom and top tubular segments facing towards the front of the fireplace, and with the bottom tubular segments resting on the fireplace floor under a separate, fire grate. A manifold connected to a forced air blower may be removably connected to the forwardly facing, open front end of the bottom tubular segments of the heat exchanger to permit either forced or convection flow of air from a room through the heat exchanger tubes for heating, the heated air being expelled back into the room through the open front ends of the top tubular segments of the heat exchanger.
