  • Patent number: 6333039
Abstract: A skin sanitizing composition includes an effective amount of an alcohol having 1 to 4 carbon atoms for providing sanitizing activity to the sanitizing composition as well as an effective amount of at least one moisturizing agent having opacifying properties for both making the sanitizing composition uniformly opaque when mixed and reducing water loss from the skin. The composition also includes an effective amount of a polymeric thickener for providing a viscosity of from about 1000 to about 65,000 cps and water.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 5719113
Abstract: A cleansing composition includes a salt of chlorhexidine such as chlorhexidine digluconate and at least one nonionic surfactant which does not include any polyoxypropylene/polyoxyethylene block copolymers. Also included in the composition is at least one amphoteric surfactant. Other additives such as viscosifiers or thickeners, emollients, fragrances, perfumes, coloring agents, preservatives, foaming agents, fungicides and the like may also be added. Preferably, the composition does not include alcohol as a carrier. The cleansing composition has been found to exhibit improved antibacterial properties while remaining mild on the skin.

  • Patent number: 5635462
Abstract: A cleansing composition includes a substituted phenol such as para-chloro-meta-xylenol, and at least one primary surfactant selected from the group consisting of amine oxides, phospholipids, partially neutralized carboxylic acids and diacids, betaines, ethoxylated methyglucosides, and mixtures thereof. The composition is devoid of conventional anionic and nonionic surfactants. Other additives such as viscosifiers or thickeners, emollients, fragrances, perfumes, coloring agents, and the like may also be added. The cleansing composition has been found to exhibit improved antibacterial properties while remaining mild on the skin.

  • Patent number: 5164468
Abstract: Polymers are disclosed which comprise the reaction product of (A) at least about 60 weight percent of at least one .alpha., .beta.-unsaturated polycarboxylic acid or anhydride; and (B) about 0.5 to about 40 weight percent of at least one acrylamide represented by the formula VI:CH.sup.2 .dbd.C(R.sup.5)C(O)N(R.sup.6)R.sup.7 (VI)wherein R.sup.5, R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 are each independently hydrogen or lower alkyl groups provided that at least one of R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 is a lower hydro-carbyl group, and further provided that the mixture is free of a vinyl sulfonic acid. The monomers react at elevated temperatures to form polycarboxylate scale inhibitors having a number average molecular weight of from about 400 to 10,000. The polymers have particular application in the inhibition of scales during oil field operations, but also may be employed in any environment where deposition of mineral scales is undesirable.
