  • Publication number: 20130214704
Abstract: Methods, luminaires and systems for matching a composite light spectrum to a target light spectrum are disclosed. Method embodiments may be optimized for simultaneously maximizing luminous output with minimal chromaticity error. Method embodiments may further be optimized for simultaneously minimizing both chromaticity and spectral error. Embodiments of the present invention may be used with composite light sources having four or more distinct dominant colors within the visible spectrum.

  • Publication number: 20130154516
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling an output of a luminaire. The luminaire uses stored spectral information for light sources within the luminaire to determine a coordinate for each light source within a color space. A desired output color is also converted to a coordinate within the color space. The distance between the desired output color coordinate and each of the coordinates corresponding to the light sources is calculated to select initial control values for the light sources. The initial control values for each light source are individually modified by a step size value, the total output of the luminaire is calculated and converted to a coordinate within the color space, and the distance between the total luminaire output coordinate and the desired color coordinate is calculated. The control values for the light sources are iteratively modified until the luminaire output coordinate is within a threshold value of the desired color output.

  • Publication number: 20130082625
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling the output of a plurality of light sources. The system can include four or more light sources (e.g. light emitting diodes (“LEDs”)) and a controller. The light sources are included in, for example, a luminaire. The respective outputs of the plurality of light sources are controlled using a hue and purity (“HP”) control technique. The HP technique includes selecting a dominant hue (e.g., green, blue, red, etc.). The purity of the selected hue is then modified to include or remove wavelengths of light adjacent to the selected hue. For example, if the selected hue is green, gradually reducing the purity of the selected hue gradually increases the presence of cyan and amber in the output of the luminaire. As the purity is reduced further, additional wavelengths of light are included, but the output of the luminaire remains, in essence, green.

  • Publication number: 20130043449
Abstract: A lift assembly system and method can include: a funnel-shaped drum having a constant diameter portion and a gradually increasing diameter portion; a cable management system adapted to position a cable in a single layer in a tray; a beam clamp tube receiver adapted to allow a tube to slide relative to a beam and be secured to the beam; a cable keeper and a slack line detector adapted to maintain cables in position about a drum upon loss of cable tension; a horizontally oriented low profile cable adjuster adapted to adjust the length of a cable; an overspeed braking mechanism; a fleet pivot arm pivotable on the end of a tube so as to guide cables along a desired fleet angle; and/or a pull-type load sensor connected between a tube and a drum adapted to sense changes in a load force and adjust movement of a load.
