  • Patent number: 11969613
Abstract: An explosion-proof housing having external walls, which enclose a housing interior so as to be proof against ignition penetration relative to an atmosphere at risk of explosion. At least one insert is arranged in at least one outer wall. The insert facilitates a gas flow between the housing interior and an environment around the housing. The at least one insert is configured in such a way that a gas flow having a sufficient mass flow or volumetric flow rate is permitted, but a flow connection which is proof against ignition penetration is produced. Attached to the outer wall having the at least one insert is a guiding means which together with the relevant outer wall delimits a flow channel. The flow channel defines a main flow direction of a main gas flow through the flow channel substantially parallel to the directly adjoining outer wall. In this way, the gas exchange between the environment and the housing interior can be improved and facilities arranged in the housing interior can be cooled.

  • Publication number: 20240055838
Abstract: An explosion-proof housing (1) according to the invention comprises: a housing body (2) which delimits an interior (3) and comprises a housing opening (9) that offers access to the interior (3); at least one central strut (14) which extends between portions of the housing body (2) and subdivides the housing opening (9) into at least two opening portions (9a, 9b), and at least two separate covers (32) which are designed and arranged, in the closed state, to each be secured to the housing body (2) and to the central strut (14) in such a way that, between the covers (32) and the housing body (2) as well as between the covers (32) and the central strut (14) invariably flameproof joints (41, 42, 52, 53) are formed. The central strut (14) is detachably mounted to the housing body (2) and, in the mounted state, is loosely mounted on the housing body (2) and movably supported such that the central strut is fixed directly to the housing body (2) without the use of fixing means.

  • Patent number: 11690181
Abstract: A housing according of the flameproof encapsulation protection type having a housing body which has an opening closed by a cover. The opening is surrounded by a flange which is directed outward away from the housing body. The edge of the cover lies flat on the flange. The edge and the flange are both preferably continuous. In any case, the edge and the flange do not have any passage openings for clamping means. In order to clamp the edge against the flange, clamps are provided which hold the edge and the flange pressed against each other in the manner of screw clamps. The clamps are provided with releasable clamping means and are preferably captively retained on the housing body or the cover, the clamps being movable between a closed position, in which the cover is fixedly clamped, and an open position, in which the clamps do not extend over the cover and allow the cover to be opened unhindered.

  • Publication number: 20230181951
Abstract: A pressure relief device for an explosion-proof housing. The pressure relief device has a lamellae arrangement having a plurality of lamellae. The lamellae are arranged in a transverse direction with distance to one another and thereby limit flow channel between two lamellae respectively. Each flow channel establishes a flow connection between a first opening and a second opening of the lamellae arrangement that are arranged with distance to one another in flow direction. Each flow channel has a non-straight preferably meandering or wave-shaped extension between the first opening and the second opening and can be flameproof as an option. Water drops that accumulate inside the flow channel are retained due to the contact with the two adjacent lamellae due to adhesion forces. In doing so, the pressure relief device is configured as protection against throughflow of water without additional measures.

  • Publication number: 20220399701
Abstract: An explosion-proof housing, which forms an interior for accommodating components that can form ignition sources. The housing has a first housing part with a first section which has a first face, and a second housing part with a second section which has a second face, the first section and/or the second section being a section of a wall, the first face and the second face delimiting an intermediate region. The first section and the second section are pressed against each other with elastic deformation of the wall section so that the intermediate region is geometrically closed in a flameproof manner by the elastic deformation of the wall section. The invention also relates to a method for producing an explosion-proof connection between a first section of a first housing part with a first face and a second section of a second housing part with a second face of a housing, at least one of the sections being a section of a wall.

  • Publication number: 20220361344
Abstract: The invention relates to an explosion-proof housing (10) with a housing body (11) which delimits an interior (13) and has a housing opening (14). The housing opening (14) can be closed by means of a cover (17). In the closed position of the cover (17), a flameproof gap (18) is formed between the housing body (11) and in particular a housing flange (15) of the housing body (11) and the cover (17). The housing body (11) has a plurality of housing walls (12), which have such a low wall thickness (s) that the housing walls (12) would not withstand the pressure of an explosion in the interior (13). The housing body (11) is therefore reinforced by a reinforcing frame (30) arranged outside the interior (13). The reinforcing frame (30) has a ring frame part (31) that is arranged adjacently to the housing opening (14) and fully surrounds the housing body (11) in an annular fashion. In particular, the ring frame part (31) directly adjoins the housing flange (15).

  • Publication number: 20220316625
Abstract: The invention relates to an explosion-proof arrangement (10) with an explosion-proof housing (11) which has a wall opening (23) in a housing wall (12). The wall thickness (d) of the housing wall (12) is so small that it is not possible to form a thread there in order to screw in a connecting body (15) for a line to pass through or for receiving an assembly so as to ensure protection against flame transmission. According to the invention, a connecting body (25), which has a flange (38) with a flange face (39), is inserted into the wall opening (23). The flange face (39) delimits a flameproof gap (58) by way of the housing wall (12). The dimensions of a gap or intermediate space between the connecting body (25) and a boundary face (24) of the housing wall (12), which boundary face delimits the wall opening (23), are not important. The protection against flame transmission can be provided solely by the flameproof gap (58) between the flange face (39) and the housing wall (12).

  • Publication number: 20220233989
Abstract: A flame trap filter including a grid structure, wherein the grid structure determines grid openings which are bordered by intersecting strip sections, and/or wherein the grid structure is formed by a laid scrim. A method for producing a grid structure of a flame trap filter includes the step of allowing a substance to solidify on a substrate, in order to form at least one strip section of the grid structure. Alternatively or in addition, the method includes the step of compressing a material for the flame trap filter or a semi-finished product of the flame trap filter at points, e.g. by mechanically deforming the material or the semi-finished product, in order to form at least one strip section of the grid structure.

  • Publication number: 20220201872
Abstract: An explosion-protected housing having a housing body, a frame part and at least two separate covers. The housing body delimits an interior space which is open at one side by means of a housing opening. The frame part has a circumferential web surrounding the housing opening. Extending within the circumferential web is a central web of the frame part that divides the housing opening into at least two opening portions. A cover abutment surface is formed, against which the covers bear in their closed position. An encirclingly closed flameproof gap is formed between each cover and the cover abutment surface when the cover is situated in the closed position and is detachably fastened by means of one or more connecting units to the frame part.

  • Publication number: 20220184435
Abstract: A protective housing in explosion-protection-type pressure-proof encapsulation. At least one device for reducing explosive pressure is associated with the housing. The housing includes a first housing part having a first sealing surface and a second housing part having a second sealing surface, wherein, when the housing is in the closed pressure-proof state, a resilient seal is held between the first sealing surface and the second sealing surface so as to be elastically deformed, and, as a result, closes the space between the first sealing surface and the second sealing surface in a flame-proof manner in the event of an explosion inside the housing. The flame-proof arrangement can replace a planar gap between, for example, a surface of a cover and a surface of a housing part, which gap requires conformity to relatively narrow manufacturing tolerances.
